Re: Northern Rebirth – Stolen Gold: New(?) Strategy
Yeah, I guess, when I played NR for the first time, I didn't have Abhai, because I somehow missed him. I also hadn't the Rod of Justice on Zlex to zap the troll leader, who is not unlikely to survive the first round of attacks under these circumstances and then is going to punch back, most likely o...

Re: Northern Rebirth – Stolen Gold: New(?) Strategy
I just played through this scenario on Nightmare, and with all the loyal troops maxed out, the assassination attempt succeeds almost every time with no loss of troops. There are four units that can reach the blue leader on Turn 2: Zlex, Abhai, Elenia and Ro'Arthian. Of these, Zlex and Abhai very lik...

Re: I finished Northern Rebirth on nightmare.
I also played through Northern Rebirth on nightmare. My only rule was no reloads during a scenario, so dying meant I had to start the scenario from the beginning. After playing entire campaigns without reloads I actually did not find the campaign that difficult, though some scenarios are a bit rando...

Re: Any tips for Pebbles in the Flood? (The South Guard)
You can cheese this mission by retreating to the mountains in the northwest corner; just recruit all the footpads you can and place your whole army in that corner. Do you suggest moving everyone North immediately, or sticking around for a bit to fight the initial scattered Undead? Also, is it bette...

Re: Novice+intermediate campaigns on permadeath
Though very frustrating at times, I also learned a lot of new strategies, and I've saved all replays in case anyone is interested, even though there is no way to prove that I did not reload. For HttT I borrowed strategies from other users for several scenarios, but for most intermediate campaigns I...

Re: my Outpost hurts Hard
And the last part... T13.png Turn 13: I can afford one last counterattack, even sending Gweddry into the fray again. Possibly I could defeat the second wave as well, but Gweddry has to return to the trapdoor soon. T14.png Turn 14: Possibly I could be more aggressive during the day, but lots of bats ...

Re: my Outpost hurts Hard
Here is the walkthrough of turns 7-12. T7.png Turn 7: Dacyn temporarily leaves (but only after healing). I'm still able to kill three more skeletons and a walking corpse. I can no longer avoid being attacked by the purple level 2 skeletons, but I place important units out of reach. T8.png Turn 8: My...

Re: my Outpost hurts Hard
Couldn't run the replay due to it being recorded in an earlier version  Could you redo it in the latest version so we can watch? :) I finally had time to write a walkthrough with screenshots, hope it helps! As usual, a disclaimer is that I don't know if anything has changed since the versi...

Re: my Outpost hurts Hard
Unfortunately I think that's going to be too much work I could include some screenshots here though, don't know if that's allowed.

Re: How to win "The Eastern Invasion" campaign?
Shock troopers are good at soaking up damage, but they are not very effective at dealing damage on their own. I would recommend mages, both white and red in some combination. Level 1 mages are fragile and difficult to level up, but both level 2 versions are excellent in this campaign, so you should ...

Re: Novice+intermediate campaigns on permadeath
Reloads, walkthroughs is what I count as cheating and what I won't do personally. What I do allow myself is to play a scenario more than once if I can't beat it on the first try. I'm not "happy" about that but some campaigns have 20 scenarios! Also I guess once I pass a scenario I conside...

Re: Novice+intermediate campaigns on permadeath
What would be interesting is to make a list of campaigns that are not designed to require cheating to play. The novice/beginner mainline quests I think just qualify. I played them while still a newbie so they did seem too hard at the time. But I suspect they qualify. Also these addon campaigns I fo...

Re: Novice+intermediate campaigns on permadeath
Props to that - I'd never have the patience to do so. Sometimes I just make silly mistakes and then I get annoyed and ragequit as-is. I do, however had, also accept the death of units, so I don't always reload either. :P Sometimes you may notice you went the wrong way or wasted too much time somewh...

Re: Novice+intermediate campaigns on permadeath
Permadeath. Ah that's what you call it. It's the only way I know to play. :) I've pretty much forsaken campaigns as a result. Not because I believe it impossible for me to get through a campaign but because I don't have fun playing with that much stress. Curious about that mod now. The name makes m...
