In fact, having the paladdin carry both a holy sacred sword and a standard rusty sword annoys me. And a spear... Now humans have their own Drake Gladiator too. I find such a change too artificial for such a small benefit. (for those who wonder, yes the dwarves that carry both an axe and a hammer al...

something of the kind you described wouldn't really fit into wesnoth. Why? Is there some Wesnothian principle against elemental monsters? It seems like something an Orcish Shaman would love to summon, e.g. Or are you just proving my point that we can't create such a monster because we've decided on...

Re: Having to explain unnecessarily

Orcs are nocturnal in Wesnoth. They like the dark and fight poorly in the day. That's basically what "nocturnal" means. Nocturnal means "Sleeps during the day, active at night", actually, and it is usually used to describe animals, not sentient beings. Nocturnal is used quite co...

Re: Having to explain unnecessarily

Nocturnal implies that the unit doesn't go out in the day at all, and is equally unhelpful. I had *no* trouble with Lawful and Chaotic while learning the game. Besides, Orcs aren't nocturnal!!!! Er, no. Nocturnal means something prefers the night and would rather not be out in the day. I don't know...

Having to explain unnecessarily

This is not the biggest issue in the game, but reading all these possible backstories for why "lawful" means afraid of the dark reminds me why I suggested a different name in the first place: it's needlessly complicated. I can intuit why Elves like forests, or knights are hard to damage, b...

Sleeping Gryphons attacking in 0.7.8

In Gryphon Mountain, a sleeping gryphon just attacked one of my units (who had moved next to it but not attacked) and then remained asleep! Are the gryphons now supposed to wake up and attack if you move next to them? If so, there should be an event the first time it happens (and the gryphon should ...

Valley of Death recruiting imbalanced

I don't think there is any significant difference between Medium and Hard now. The eastern Lich recruits only Wraiths, rightly judging that they are far more effective than the walkers. You get mobbed by dozens of wraiths wherever you attempt to make your stand. My team I sent to snatch the SE holy ...

Tribal Warfare and Lake Vrug

Tribal Warfare seems extraordinarily hard (on Medium). Your opponents have a lot of gold and can buy piles of lethal troops. Meanwhile, the player has not had a chance to amass much gold ahead of time and risks running out the clock while husbanding his precious few troops. The elves in particular h...

Wesbowl problems

I ran into some interesting problems trying this scenario. First, if you level up, you lose the ball. Second, there is nothing to distinguish the two balls. I didn't realize that you couldn't carry the opponent's ball until I'd already destroyed mine. Third, it might be a good idea to present the ru...

I like both ideas. I presume you could still go negative without any new consequences if the enemy captured your villages after the effect, right?

Ford of Abez in 7.2

I assume the change to make the Sea Monsters allies of the Loyalists was done to avoid an insane attack on Li'Sar's castle, but the results are bizarre and undermine the logic of the scenario. The monsters do not attack Loyalist units and, worse, ignore Loyalist zones of control, which significantly...

Isle of the Damned revisited

I didn't like the Isle of the damned, I forgot to save the ending of Pearls and ended up bankrupt (100 of earned 350 ) in the Siege of Elensefar, so I couldn't buy most of my level 2 units. It wasnt much of a challenge either, just buy those thugs and keep pressing that end turn button. Perhaps the...

Blunt vs Impact damage?

Could someone explain why we have both blunt and impact damage in the game? I am trying to wrap my mind around the distinction and just can't. Is there some subtle balance issue between (say) a Pillager's net and a Troll's club? If so, could we change "blunt" to "tangle" to make ...

Is this four comment limitation in the code? If not, I would just have the Elves propose a temporary peace to fight the interloper, the Orcs grudgingly agree, and later Gwiti add when he finds the bodies in the swamp that he will add both enemies to his zombie host. This last is important to clarify...
