Re: What mainline campaigns are high quality?

My choices are: - Liberty - The Rise of Wesnoth - Descent into darkness - Dead Water - UtBS - The Hammer of Thursagan (although some of the maps could use polishing) - Secrets of the Ancients Since we're on the subject of improving i feel obligated to mention the campaigns i did not like - Eastern i...

Re: Female Avatars

Hi, new to the conversation, you could 100% change Tallin to a female and change nothing else and it wouldn't be weird. It would be, and not for story reasons, but because it will be painfully obvious that this is a male character who was gender-flipped at the last moment. Men and women are not int...

Re: What would you like to see in a longer Dunefolk campaign?

I'd also recomend you consider looking at other dunefolk related campaigns, to see if they can be useful for reference. Oath of Allegiance plays a bit liberally with Dunefolk lore and I don't think it was ever meant to line up with established canon, but it has a map that can be used, with three cit...

Re: What would you like to see in a longer Dunefolk campaign?

I think the Dunefolk are currently in the discussion of becoming another After the Fall faction for an eventual second set of multiplayer factions (together with Quenoth Elves). Should this come to pass, any time during mainline Wesnoth except for UtBS is risky business. I see no reason why they sh...

No, it was a lazy ctr+c ctrl+v from my part :D But it indeed makes sense if the others give a witty comment to it.
Are you sure? Because unless i remember incorrectly, the victory speech was unique for every legendary enemy, and this is the only one that referenced decapitation.

One of my units defeated the Headless Knight and in the following dialogue Dayton says "and [unit] chopped of his head"   Wow. I might just leave that in and add a comment from one of the others about how drunk he must be to talk such nonsense  [/quote] I remember that one. I'm...

Re: Elvish Shamans vs Mages in HttT

If I have bad RNG and reload from before the bad RNG by default BfW uses a new random seed and thus there will be new results if repeating the exact same actions. If I do that whenever I have bad RNG I will end up never having bad RNG. Yes, and if the probability of a favorable result is less than ...

Re: Elvish Shamans vs Mages in HttT

You can't rely on reloading to fix bad rng. Slow can be a game changer, especially when dealing with high damage units.

Re: Secrets of the Ancients (Undead Campaign)

Okay, so I've been replaying this campaign after it got officially mainlined, and I noticed a writing issue that struck me as odd. Scenerio 11, Battleground, has two instances of Ardonna's gender being brought up. Aside from the fact that a scenario about reptile people fighting skeletons for being ...

Re: UMCs with "campaign/strategic map" style solution? Seasons?

There's also A New Order, where the second half of the campaign uses hub maps, but nothing really happens on those. You get some loyal units sometimes and you pick what order you do different scenarios, or even do optional ones, but that's about it.

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)

Kzin seems more to be made as dedicated antagonist species to drive the conflict. While Drake seem to be more nuanced to me. Warlike yet wise. is something I agree with for handling drakes. This is an odd thing though. How do immutable biological traits play into being an dedicated antagonist speci...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)

Well, you probably can't fault Tolkien for being explicitly misogynistic, but he was a child of his time, wrote of very gender-stereotypical cultures and, additionally, female characters certainly weren't his... strong suit. You mean he wrote of cultures that acknowledged traditional gender roles, ...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)

If female drakes are actually barely sentient being, we can go with "breeder", but it has to be stated in the encyclopedia that they are barely sentient. That is, i believe the direction the writer intended to go. If this is the direction taken though, it would probably be more appropriate to consi...

Um what. A "sapling" is just a young tree, not some mechanism of reproduction. Maybe you meant to say "cuttings"? (Which isn't exclusive to trees, mind you.)
Yes, that is what I meant. I did try to correct myself, but I wasn't sure what was the correct term.

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)

Trees don't reproduce asexually in nature under normal circumstances Many plants, can reproduce asexually if a part of them splits off and grows into a new plant (maybe sapling isn't the correct term). This could occur naturally or by human intervention. Considering that woses are humanoid trees...
