hotfix version 0.5.5a is published for Wesnoth 1.10.7, 1.12.6 and 1.14.x

this version fixes following bug:
- units with Elusive random trait were able to ignore zones of control unconditionally instead of only until there is more than one enemy unit adjacent to them

I do think that (relative) simplicity is important. agree.
