Balance is mostly for multiplayer, but Dwarvish Scout isn't a unit that you can get in the mainline factions. It doesn't really matter if a campaign-only unit is "unbalanced".

On Southern Nations, the AI often spends like 5-10 seconds thinking before making a move. On a big battle like this, it's quite time-consuming.
This only happens in the latest version (BfW 1.15.15, TLU 3.2 beta). I also have BfW 1.14.5 installed with TLU 3.1.3, and it doesn't happen there.

I've always found the ranged vs melee thing in Wesnoth a bit odd. They're basically just keywords that determine who can counterattack against whom. You can call them apple and orange and it makes no difference. Ranged units just don't feel like actual ranged units when you still have to go up close...

Here's another save file with the loyal unit problem. In the recall list, there's a loyal poacher called Cethoc. If you recall him, the income drops from +2 to +1.

Those are automatically added to your inventory.
Except they're not. I tried several times and double-checked my inventory before and after. I never got the item.

Loyal doesn't seem to work when it's randomly generated on a recruited unit.
I can't pick up items the enemy leader drops because the scenario ends.
