Re: Ladder Era - Competitive 1v1 play on the Ladder of Wesnoth

There are 24 ranked players right now, which might not seem too many. But the low point was roughly a year ago, with 2 or 3 active members for months. I'd say compared to that it's not so terrible now.

Re: can't report won game.

When you play with a new opponent you don't know, it's a good idea to check if they really have a ladder account before the game. Especially if they don't seem to have an idea about Ladder when you ask them. Many casual players will not know that the Ladder even exists and will join when they see an...

Re: A question for developers, do we matter ?

The fact that many player agree on something doesn't mean it's a good change. Balance shouldn't be a democracy.

Re: Happy skeletons in water with a bridge!

I used bridges with deep water on most of the maps i made for this very reason. It's a really good way to buff Undead if you don't want too much fungus on the map. And, of course, it's cool.

Re: The case against the Dwarvish Steelclad/Lord

Wow... I guess we really just left this thread hanging here. Apparently, this was not the only place where we discussed the issue. The reason the conversation ended here is a really simple one: we have won. The developers have been contacted and at this point it's more than likely that the Steelclad...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Changes In Unit Lines & Base Units

I welcome the burner change. In my opinion it never really worked out as a melee/ranged unit. It always should've focused on the latter. This way it'll deal 9-3 fire damage during the day, just like mages, minus the magic. Which is very much needed against UD.

Re: The case against the Dwarvish Steelclad/Lord

Sounds more like poor scenario design than anything. Not unusual for NR. Leaving a unit overpowered to compensate for a lazy design is not the ideal solution. I would redraw the scenario itself.

Re: The case against the Dwarvish Steelclad/Lord

I love the fact that the discussion is entirely about how to nerf it, nobody really spoke against the necessity or at least fairness of it. It's really reassuring. And there is nothing wrong with sharing ideas naturally, even if they don't happen to be good ones sometimes. It's best to consider as m...

Re: The case against the Dwarvish Steelclad/Lord

I haven't thought of that. Maybe hp nerf has it's advantages. I don't know how weird it would be to nerf fire and cold res. After all, heavy inf's armor also makes it worse against those damage types. Hp nerf would also weakens Lord against other opponents, not just mages, while res can focus on par...

How about taking the quick trait away from dwarves altogether?
That'd be... bad. Like, burning down the whole forest by accident while trying to put out the camp fire level bad.
I believe this a level 2/3 problem, better not involve level 1 at all. Let's not fix something that isn't broken.

Re: World Conquest II

I can't imagine it'd be too hard to make them recruit level 4s that can actually advance in-game. (Grand Marshal, Great Mage, Elvish Sylph) The other ones might be a different story. (Ancient Lich, Dwarvish Arcanister, Armageddon Drake) There are already Great Trolls, so they wouldn't be that much s...

Re: The case against the Dwarvish Steelclad/Lord

Yes, making it 3 mp would obviously be a terrible idea, but i never suggested that. I only talked about movement cost, like Hejnewar said. Dwarves can go through forests, hills and mountains for 1 mp, which wouldn't be a problem. But this unit is so powerful that a quick trait doesn't only make it m...

Re: World Conquest II

Has anyone ever considered adding level 4s as enemies to the last scenario on Nightmare? An Armageddon Drake or an Elvish Sylph coming your way would be something to see and... quite epic, a worthy showdown. Like, one or two sides could send a level 4 instead of two level 3s or something like that.

Re: Age of Heroes balance.

Orcish Warrior/Warlord slowly surpasses the Troll line in terms of stats.
Goblin gold costs affecting campaigns... i'm not so sure about this. Dealing with one or two more squishy goblins can really be such an issue?
I posted my long rant about the Steelclad.

The case against the Dwarvish Steelclad/Lord

Sooo... i wanted to do this for a long time and finally it's here. I will analyze the whole issue and why i think this unit is just wrong the way it is. I will try to gather the most important arguments and even counter-arguments, and make a conclusion and a few suggestions based on those. One thing...
