Re: The Era of Horrors 1.2.1 (Wesnoth 1.14 release)
Yeah. I bet that's half in part of me not finding sounds I liked, and half writing barely functioning WML. I was meaning to do a full art upgrade but got distracted making content for other games. Graphical update is still on the backburner with some art done but I basically decided to put it on hol...

Re: Critique add-on icon for Invisible Enemies
There are classically enemy units that would work fine if you're worried about needing one with an ambush ability. A blue Shadow for example, due to it's nightstalk ability would probably be familiar to players.

Re: The Era of Myths art project thread
Yeah, I did the Farstrider, and I'm older now and more aware it looks like a pole dancer. I probably should do something about that.

Re: The Era of Horrors 1.2.1 (Wesnoth 1.14 release)
Just released onto the 1.14 servers as to be timely and punctual for our steamy brethren. Did about 2 hours worth of quick bug searching and squashing and you can find what I did in the changelog note below. v1.2.1 Wesnoth 1.14 release. New bug fix: Kolbolt Scurrier race capitalization corrected. Ne...

Re: Dark Dwarves
The Avian faction are a faction of harpies by any other name, and the Therian faction's bird-shapeshifters are very harpie in design. The Yokai faction has a couple of Gorgons part of their Lamia line. The Minotaur (now Beastman Enclave, I believe) have or used to have Gnolls as their archers (Might...

Re: Preferred Fate of the Dunefolk (formerly Khalifate)?
I'm I the confused one here? Haven't the Dunefolk already been accepted to mainline and these recent topics are just about polishing a Content Update of The Battle for Wesnoth? Like this isn't about getting them in, they're already in, right? Is Cold Steel is just shouting angrily into the sky from ...

Re: Dunefolk(previously Khalifate) race description
The modern wesnoth multiplayer match creation screen displays all eras side-by-side with its display of all maps. Nothing is tucked away. If no one could see khalifate or figure out how to select it, neither would they be able to see or select any map besides Aethermaw. Are the vast majority of onl...

Re: Dunefolk(previously Khalifate) race description
I mean I'm pretty sure popularity is at least in part tied to familiarity. There are quite a lot of UMC factions and eras being used in the online matches. They have never had the advantage of years in mainline to boost their familiarity, as khalifate has. And khalifate is an old faction in truth. ...

Re: Dunefolk(previously Khalifate) race description
I mean I'm pretty sure popularity is at least in part tied to familiarity. The factions that have been around longer are picked more often because they because 1) people got to know them first and are more attached to them and 2) most have campaigns to further familiarize yourself with them. We'll n...

Re: Dunefolk(previously Khalifate) race description
Notably, I think sprites can change, but only if someone will actually do it, which there isn't really anyone doing that. It's a shame to 'waste' sprites but as long as quality replacements actually get made as part of the argument that's 'fine'. Some of the units, like Wyvern Rider are things I thi...

Re: Dunefolk(previously Khalifate) race description
I don't think you repeating yourself over and over counts as waves. Waves... Like... These... They usually get locked pretty fast. But censoring criticism does not generate a lot of volunteer support for a faction apparently. Oh man all those waves of "pls change name". Yo, done. There is...

Re: Dunefolk(previously Khalifate) race description
In fact they are unique in gameplay on a few fronts right now , with the major one being liminal units. Actually, there are severe, fundamental problems with liminal. It is a curse upon the dunefolk. I will be happy to get into the details on this but it is another topic and would likely grow into ...

Re: Dunefolk(previously Khalifate) race description
Wesnoth is a fantasy-mythology game that is light on realism. It is not unexpected that it attracts people who want what it offers. That a faction aiming to be the new standard low for the thing that helped attract people to this game in the first place, achieves only lackluster popularity is not a...

Re: Dunefolk(previously Khalifate) race description
I mean as far as the sliding scale of mythology goes for mainline factions, like yeah the Loyalists are so mystical with their dudes with spears and dudes with swords, and dudes with spears on horses and dudes with swords on horses. Their only Mythological unit is the Merfolk they have, or arguably ...

Re: Dunefolk(previously Khalifate) race description
I mean it's good to solidify at least some relations. Name dropping Drakes specifically helps tie them in to the game better, which they themselves desperately need. And again anything that's important in mainline needs to be stated in racial descriptions if it can't be found elsewhere in mainline ,...
