Donation solicitation rather difficult to notice

Let me ask a provocative question: Does the project want donations?

By looking at the website, and the game, it seems the answer is "not really". Why?

* There is no Donate/Support link on the main, top, navbar.
* On the main page of the website, nothing is said about donations unless you scroll ...

Re: Wesnoth 1.19.22

There weren't player-visible changes that seemed relevant to mention.

Ah, ok. It would have been clearer if the changes section would literally say that, then :-)

Anyway, I'm playing Pearls & Pirates now, it's my first time seeing it in a release.

Thanks for the continuing hard work. I think ...

I believe this announcement is missing a "Changes in this release" section :-(

How safe is it to turn LTO on?

I noticed that, when I CMake-configure Wesnoth for building, LTO is turned off by default. Is this because it's somehow unsafe/unstable? If it is, can someone describe what behavior one can expect with LTO turned on?

@MathBrush :
At the end of scenario 7, "Drake Flowers", Maban says "Everyond" instead of "Everyone". Typo, please fix...

Re: [mainline] Melee "marksman"

Vyncyn wrote: April 16th, 2018, 6:27 pm Currently only the only units using marksman on melee are swordsmen, so "swordsmanship" would still works for mainline.
We now have the Dragonfly line, which are "Marksman" biters.

Anyway, I've filed an issue on GitHub, linking to this thread.

Re: Mainline Campaign Design [1.20 and beyond]

Delfador's Memoirs -> The Deceiver's Gambit [almost complete]: Delfador's backstory with Wesnoth being thrown into chaos during a war with the northern orcs; Asheviere manipulating these events in the background unbeknownst to Delfador. The biggest planned lore/campaign change for the upcoming ...

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

So, I finally finished both parts of TDG.

I have to say - I don't think this is up to par as a mainline campaign - mostly in terms of the story.

Delfador seems like a frivolous and shallow character throughout both parts. His behavior and demeanor were not convincing. Not for any person, and ...

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

In "Revelry, revisited", you are tasked with "Defeating as many enemy leaders as possible" - but that's not a concrete objective. There is no turn limit, nor any other condition with which the scenario ends.
So, it turns out the challenge is to survive for as many turns as possible.
I believe that ...

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

I'm attaching a save from the end of (my) Turn 7 of Galcadar. I note particularly how Delfador's Counterspell aura stops and then resumes while the game is "thinking". This might not be a full 30 seconds, but somewhere in the vicinity.

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

The game's performance with some TDG scenarios is somehow slower. An extreme case is Galcadar, where it is just lag lag lag - and sometimes I have to wait... 10, up to even 30 seconds for anything to happen, seeing the hourglass icon. And my PC, though not extremely fast - never had any such trouble ...

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

From a lore/gameplay perspective, Counterspell only disallows magical attacks.

Where is this established? Also, it's not what the description says... : "Prevents spellcasting, but not passive skills" - and that's not about attacks.

... or... is it? If you want it to be, at least rephrase the ...

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

In Galcadar - I was surprised by the Saurians attacking my faction. How does this make sense? Given that Delfador, in his Armageddon Drake form, would ostensibly tell them not to? Shouldn't they just be focusing on the Orcs? Doesn't make sense to me. If it is imperative in your opinion that Delfador ...

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

In "The Deceiver" scenario, the Brown allies' attack on the Whitefangs begins at night (!) - on turn 12 (in my play, anyway). It should probably begin at dawn, on the next turn.

I'll adjust that. I think that the Second Watch attack is mechanically the strongest - that puts the heaviest ...
