Re: Help request for Siege of Elensefar
The orcs are VERY interested in killing Konrad. Send him on a lone expedition to the west island and the enemy will send a wave of troops that way, giving you an opening to break through their lines and start taking villages. You will want the thieves to find a hidden fjord across the lake instead o...

Re: how does luck work in wesnoth?
The way luck works is pretty simple-- it simply means your powerful arch mage misses all his shots and a weak enemy unit kills your leader on a castle tile.
Kidding, kidding...

Re: Siege of Elensefar replay
Okay, watched the replay, here's what I have to say. You finished this scenario early with few casualties, good work. But, no offense, a lot of it had to do with luck. Your first bit of luck was the large number of assassins that the orcs recruited (as Velensk pointed out), I always faced an even mi...

Re: Siege of Elensefar replay
I haven't watched the replay yet, but let me say this before I do. SoE is a pretty tough scenario, it's difficult to avoid heavy casualties, even with a fair number of leveled units in your army. I've tried the scenario with several strategies and have always lost a few hardened veterans and plenty ...

Eh, necromancers don't really fare in water either. Not that I would put one there...Great_Mage_Atari wrote:Yes, except for the fact that if it gets caught in a melee fight in the middle of shallow water, it's more than likely a goner.

I was pondering the same issue, glad I found this thread.
I will say that the lich's submerge ability is most valuable when dealing with maps with a good deal of water.

Re: The South Gaurd 'Normal' Setting
Remember to be doubly wary of being counter-attacked than attacking. In other words, tis better to live and fight another day, than to launch an offensive that might backfire. When I first tried TSG on normal, I couldn't even make it past the first scenario. This was a year ago when I first started ...

Re: Noob question -- what to do with allied villages?
With allied villages, it kind of depends for me. I realize that the AI really isn't as good as a human so generally I don't have a problem snatching their villages. But if the AI is in a strategic position, such as a place where they will clog up enemy forces and prevent my army from getting pinned....
