Re: After the Storm 0.9.0 [Wesnoth 1.10.x/1.11.1] (complete!

Played through the campaign to the end. I consider this to be _the_ best Wesnoth campaign (better than any other unofficial campaigns I played, or than I like the change of style from IftU. The story/characters are much less simplistic and gameplay seems to have been improved from the faults of IftU...

Re: Can't connect to official server

It seems that 1.40 is the default Boost version in Ubuntu 10.04 (it is the one supported by Canonical).
I probably changed the version when looking for newest dependencies of stuff I compiled,
so I guess the mistake is mine :p .

Anyway, thanks for help.

Can't connect to official server

Hi, I've recently moved to Ubuntu 10.04 beta, and installed Wesnoth 1.8 from source. When I click Multiplayer->Join Official Server, I get stuck at a loading bar "Reading from Server..." which never moves beyond 0%. 1.8-rc1 on Ubuntu 9.10 worked ok. Any ideas what could the problem be?

Re: New here

I didn't mean to say that Wesnoth music is bad, quite the opposite. But the fact that most commercial games don't have music as good as Wesnoth speaks more about their lack of quality (and abundance of greed for quick buck) than anything. While Wesnoth music is good for the game, it's not awesome en...

Re: New here

Actually, I didn't have enough time to determine if there's anything else bad about it than it being ugly, and yeah, that's what I think about it. XML is ugly too, IMO :p . Also, since I'm already used to coding in clean looking languages like Python, it'd be better for be to use a normal programmin...

Re: New here

I'm more interested about replacing the whole AI module, i.e. from scratch. I'd like to know if that's possible without directly messing with Wesnoth source, and in such a way that the AI can be plugged in/out. Lua's not my thing but definitely a lot better than WML. Might look at it when (if ever) ...

New here

OK, so after about a year of loathing the screenshots I actually downloaded and tried the game. And... I have to say it's awesome. So here's a personal opinion on Wesnoth: Graphics: Even for a player grown on 90's titles the small, sprite-based graphics can be a barrier as, on the first sight, the g...
