Re: Lonely Era (first release available for 1.12)
Hi,
I'm considering porting some LE factions to Ageless. I want to hear your opinion on this :)
Hi sorry for the slow reply, (that darn minetest :) it sounds great if they were included in the Ageless. Out of curiosity which factions are being considered? I'd love it if they were all ...

Re: Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.40
IPS, do you also use discord or do you prefer talking here? As you might have seen I am recently submitting various small bug fixes to Ageless, and I have also talked to Ravana about possibilities of importing other existing factions.
Anyways, let's keep in touch and coordination. Which should be ...

Re: How safe is it to turn LTO on?
LTO also tends to make building longer (a very slow linking step that cannot be relieved by parallelism). So turning off LTO by default could have much more benign reasons.

Re: Faction Mix-N-Match To Different Eras.
You might want to talk to Ravana about merging your work into main line Ageless Era.
Which might or might not be feasible depending on how you coded it and the quality of the factions themselves.
But as a player I always find it the more the merrier, so please go ahead and give it a try. I am also ...

Re: A New Land Era
I have a very old "Ageless New Land" mod that adds a few extra factions for A New Land. Needless to say it's horribly unmaintained (it's 16 years old I think lol), but perhaps I can salvage something from it.
( Don't be too hopeful though, I have a tendency of leaving stuff undone )

Re: The Era of Strife
Now that there is the new* liminal alignment, I wonder if it makes sense to move the Eventide units (except diu and noct obviously) from neutral to liminal?

Re: An item that provides a unit additional type of AMLA?
Thank you very much for such a detailed and insightful response. I want this campaign to be played with different eras, including Ageless Era. Therefore, the third option seems out of question. I'll give the second a go then, as such an item will not occur more than a few times.

Re: An item that provides a unit additional type of AMLA?
Well, I just came up with an idea, where I could dynamically create new unit_types basing on the existing ones, then add the AMLA code into the new unit_type, and change the unit type to the new one. We don't even need to use the upgrade_to_something hack as the new unit_type is otherwise identical ...

An item that provides a unit additional type of AMLA?
Hello, everyone.
What I was trying is to implement an item which, when taken, givens the unit an additional type of AMLA.
However, I then realized that I have no luck in modifying the [advancement] tag inside [unit] then [unstore_unit] it, as [unstore_unit] will read the right advancement tag from ...

Re: How to balance your faction
You're not getting the point here: map balance is not universal. You could make an era that was hopelessly imbalanced on mainline maps that was perfectly balanced on its own map set. Just because the mainline maps are balanced for the mainline factions doesn't mean they are balanced for UMC ...

Re: How to balance your faction
First off: please don't double post. We have edit buttons on this forum for a reason.
Secondly: Units are not balanced against units, factions are balanced against factions. I'm pretty sure that better era designers than me could come up with a situation in which a 14gp 10mp scout could appear in ...

Re: How to balance your faction
Perhaps, we should split the unit balancing issue into some seperated topics:
1. Get a faction balanced in a fixed context. For example, you made an era of 7 factions and try balancing them, or you made a faction and try balancing it against all default factions.
In this case, you have to care ...
