Re: Mudcrawlers
There's a tiny bit of noise that happens in the attack, even so this could be read as a rogue air-pocket bursting.
I think these are great, they look to have a proper sense of gloopiness about them.

Re: Merman Hunter, extending the javelin throw routine
I'm not entirely certain how to respond, hence my hesitation, but... Thank you. A pep-talk, right there!
...And of course, you're welcome.

Re: Merman Hunter, extending the javelin throw routine
You'll see him defend with a spear when he's in melee, at the moment he's only animated for ranged combat i.e avoiding arrows/ throwing knifes and the like. That said, I'll start the Hunter's melee animations, and dissect artisticdude's Merman warrior for reference. What do you think to using a simi...

Re: Merman Hunter, extending the javelin throw routine
That's fair I can see what needs to be done now, or at least what I would do. Bring his right arm in similar to his left, and swap out the curious roll in the tail. If you think you can tackle it straight forwardly, please be my guest. I don't think I'm going to get back to this before the weekend. :)

Re: Merman Hunter, extending the javelin throw routine
Here it is. For long enough this guy looked to be hitting himself in the face. That's what you wanted right?
Okay, first frame is reused; hunter-throw-1.png followed by the new frame; hunter-ranged-defense-1.png

Re: Merman Hunter, extending the javelin throw routine
I've not got round to looking at the defence anim proper, but here's the rest for the SE/SW throw. Everything made so far is in the GIF, excepting some minor tweaking. The zip file contains the completed sheathe/unsheathe, attack anims and a reference sheet to help with the config file. I've not tou...

Re: Mudcrawlers
Needs bolder shadows about it's personage. I know it's mud, but if you're considering references for motion, I would recommend the Sandman in Spiderman 3, the scene where he's just been transformed. I think the sluggish/lumbering uncertainty would be fitting for a creature of this type. So the body ...

Re: Ancient Lich Development
It would be interesting if this also gave rise to a new Ossuary like subterranean tile set. Some of these bone constructs reminded me of a Svankmajer film.

About 2 min 30 sec in is when things get going. Nice Jazz too.

Re: Merman Hunter, extending the javelin throw routine
I'm quite familiar with the Merman Hunter by now, sure I'll work on the other animations for him to. I've done the shadows for the throw anim, providing you care for his proximity to the melee spear. Here's a GIF before I post up the the PNG files. Also, I've tacked together a ranged defence anim fo...

Re: Merman Warrior Attack Animation
I looked at this GIF in GIMP, one frame at a time. After the attack, he pulls back further before he returns to standing. This is good, but his head turns slightly, it causes a twitch which is throwing off the fluidity a little. I think that part could be ditched in favour of keeping the default hea...

Re: Merman Warrior Attack Animation
:D I'm very happy to see someone else working on the Merfolk animations as well. If only to reference the work myself. I think the motion you've got is all there, I like it. I would be tempted to increase the duration of the furthest wind-up frame to 200ms for use in the config file. It's lon...

Re: Merman Hunter, extending the javelin throw routine
Looks good. But there would need to be a pulling-out anim too. How does this one look in reverse? Maybe without the highest stretching up frame. Okay, after a second look, it could look passable if I re-do the low squashy frame. Something in that jumble confuses the reverse motion. Here's the GIF w...

Re: Merman Hunter, extending the javelin throw routine
Hmm, well I've continued on this particular anim for the time being anyway, realising it might be better to follow a different route for the sheathe/unsheathe. As I feared there needed to be some shuffling of the main body to get the spear out of the way of the pose. I've tried to introduce some imp...
