Re: New Player
Progressing slowly still but enjoying it. Crossroads was fun, held back and broke the enemy lines then rushed to take the objective in turn 20 or so, leveled the Elvish Hero to Champion, Elvish Rider to Outrider, White Mage to Mage of Light, Shaman to Druid and a new Thief to Rogue here. List going ...

Re: New Player
I've definitely found that having a decent balance of units is essential, as is reading the terrain and trying to anticipate the AI moves; more so than in most strategy games where one can more often than not force their way through and rely on high level units only. I found the mermen units were ex...

Re: New Player
Siege of Elensefar is one of the most difficult scenarios of HttT and as said before, losing leveled units is not a problem, just try to level at least as many or, in an especially difficult scenario, compensate in the next. TSG is notoriously hard to balance, but I'll take a look at it later tonig...

Re: New Player
I personally think that restarting a scenario because of the loss of a good unit can often be self defeating (though nowhere near as much as turn reloading), sure you may have kept that unit and learnt from that mistake (If indeed it was a mistake and not just the result being bad) but you can becom...

Re: New Player
2 Elvish Knights ...there's no such thing. I presume you mean knights? :P Yes I meant Knights, must have been the armor hiding them while I was working through the Elvish Units :lol2: Still going well, having recalled mainly level 2 units along with the loyal mage who leveled up realy quickly and b...

Re: New Player
If you're a beginner, start with the beginner level. A lot of games pitch their beginner level at a level that would be easy even for a beginner. Not so Wesnoth. The difficulty levels are aimed to be challenging to the level of player suggested by the name. Play through at beginner level first. Ah ...

New Player
I've only recently found and started playing this game, am playing Heir To The Throne on normal difficulty. I find that for me playing any type of turn based strategy games especially with a hex map on easy to be just that, way too easy and I tend to then play on auto pilot. Played The Elves Besiege...

Re: How did you find out about Wesnoth?
I only recently found out about the game, less than a fortnight ago. A link was in the signature on one of the forums I belong to, I think it was my ISP one.
