Re: Battle music (2 pieces)
Hi!
Well first of all, please use MuseSounds, they've got free sample packs for all of the instruments you've used, and it's integrated with MuseScore (at least >4.0)
Sadly, MuseSounds' playback engine is not open-source (which is why my distro, Debian, doesn't package MS4), and requires the ...

Skeleton Dance revisited
Came back to Skeleton Dance 15(!) years later and decided to apply whatever I've learned about music in the meantime to make it sound more "Wesnoth-y". There's a lot more dynamic variation than before, some additional material and texture, and I've mastered it with a lot less reverb than before so ...

Harris
I'm working on a strategy game called Harris , where you control RAF Bomber Command in WWII.
It's currently playable but unbalanced and a few game mechanics are missing. Also, some of the game's data is historically inaccurate, because I don't have enough books so I've been relying heavily on ...

Re: How can I save units correctly?
On *nix, the correct place is ~/.local/share/wesnoth/<version>/data/add-ons/<add-on name>
where <version> is something like 1.10, and <add-on name> is some name to collect your stuff under.
(Older versions had their own ~/.wesnoth directory)
Windows will have something similar in its user- or app ...

Era of Music
Over the past month I've been creating Era of Music. Civil war has broken out in the orchestra, and the sections are battling for supremacy!
The first version, with 3 of 5 factions created (but probably not well-balanced), is now up on the addon server.
Factions are: Strings (lawful/neutral ...

Re: Battle music (2 pieces)
Hi soundandfury, if you're thinking of composing for mainline, you'll definitely need better samples. I would hesitate to add anything that was sub EWQL Silver Edition, and trust me, you can squeeze a lot out of that library. I composed Casualties of War and Into the Shadows using the EWQL Library ...

Re: Battle music (2 pieces)
The snare has the infamous machine gun effect, which sucks all realism out of not only the percussion, but large parts of the track as a whole. Have you looked through the free sf2 post in the stickies, yet? I'm pretty sure there are lots of better percussion options that have been put together by ...

Battle music (2 pieces)
So I decided to write something more suited to a battle scene, and produced this:
A Call To Arms ; a martial overture which quotes from the main-menu leitmotif and the 'village dance' theme from my Upon Green Hills . There's a slight issue in that a poor snare sample interacts badly with the reverb ...

Re: Upon Green Hills (WIP)
I've extended it with a new middle section, which is meant to represent a village dance with the church bell tolling away in the background.
The new version lasts 3'42", and is (in the structural sense) complete. It is not, however, finished; there are still a few bits I'm not happy with.

Upon Green Hills (WIP)
So, having been an avid Wesnoth player for several versions (and a cornet player for several years), I decided to have a go at writing some music for the game.
Most of the Wesnoth music seems fairly restless (which is fair enough for a game with "Battle" in the title...), so I decided to write ...
