Re: Are variations documented somewhere

I would guess that what you're seeing in the help is the variation_name, not the variation_id. As far as I know they aren't documented anywhere, so you'd need to check the [variation]s in Corpse_Walking.cfg.

Re: Wesnoth 1.18.0 — Draconic Invasions Update

For a small number of portraits their size was not reduced at all or only by a very small amount, so they were left as .png files.

Yeah, the zoom shouldn't be causing that either.

Re: Reset achievements for UMC campaign?

Also surprised to learn that Wesnoth doesn't know where the WML originates from... I vaguely recall reading ages ago that the engine maintained namespaces and prepended campaign specific strings to every variable within said campaign to avoid name clashes between variables in different campaigns (I...

Re: Changing difficulty

This probably would be easier to implement with a plain WML variable and then adding handling to further adjust the relevant values/settings based on the variable's value.

Re: Wesnoth 1.18.0 — Draconic Invasions Update

It would, but that'd need to go on https://www.wesnoth.org/start/1.18/ which can't be updated anymore since it's been made available for translation.

Re: Reset achievements for UMC campaign?

That said I would push back gently on this being a purely technical limitation, if an achievement is set during a playthrough of a particular add-on, I see no fundamental technical barrier preventing that same add-on being allowed to unset an achievement it previously set? The problem is that Wesno...

Re: Can I propose a new faction with Japanese themes like samurai, ninja's and shrine priests?

There's no reason such a faction couldn't be created as an add-on, but it's very unlikely that new factions will get added to the base game at this point.

There is not. There was only ever a single person supporting the Android port and they never updated it past 1.14.

They don't look that way for me:

Re: Wesnoth 1.18.0 — Draconic Invasions Update

It's not a connection I immediately make, at least. I would assume it wasn't the intention, given the design of the rest of the Loyalist faction though, as you noted.

Honestly for searches that aren't meant to be limited to a particular account or subforum, it's better to just use google or another actual search engine and restrict it to site:forums.wesnoth.org

Re: Wesnoth 1.18.0 — Draconic Invasions Update

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamellar_helmet:
The lamellar helmet (German language: Lamellenhelm, plural Lamellenhelme) was a type of helmet used in Europe during the Early Middle Ages.
So it's certainly not exclusively Chinese.
