Re: New art commission : Dunefolk
Last one for the captain / warmaster. I'll do group shots next time, it's easier to handle and we maybe don't need the full high-res cast every time.

Re: New art commission : Dunefolk
Hi everyone ! Thanks for the feedback and enthusiastic response, it truly warms my heart to feel welcome after such a long absence.

Re: New art commission : Dunefolk
Hello Wesnoth!
This commission has been on hold for the longest time (almost a year? Damn) and it shames me to admit that this is entirely on me due to work overload being what it is.
The good news is, at long last I'm ready to get back to it, already have in fact. I've completed the Burner line ...

Re: New art commission : Dunefolk
You're right, that hand pose doesn't read properly. I tried to reference a few alternatives, not sure which is the best one though.
The blademaster might also improve if he looks to where his sword is pointing. I don't want to redraw the full head and shoulders though, that's a lot of work ...

Re: New art commission : Dunefolk
Warmaster and Blademaster. I'm going to set aside sketches for now, and work my way through final color for the currently available set.

Re: New art commission : Dunefolk
Thanks for the kind words Amorphous !
@doofus-01 : nothing to be sorry about, you're right that the slimmer hip looks better. I spend so much time looking at these portraits that after a while I can't see anymore these little mistakes; therefore an informed fresh eye is always welcome.

Re: New art commission : Dunefolk
Thanks for the feedback. I probably won't be touching the scimitars, because I want to keep them distinct from the heavier curvy blades of the orcs. Human weapons in Wesnoth portraits mostly stick to semi-realistic proportions and I'd like to keep it that way. Besides, actual scimitar blades can be ...

Re: New art commission : Dunefolk
Thanks for the feedback !
I finished the swordsman and modified the other units as per your suggestions, please let me know if anything still seems off.
Quick couple of comments :
- The item on the Firetrooper's head is not goggles but a metal mask - since the sprite seems to wear one - that I ...

Ink for the Spearguard.
His armor looks lighter than the soldier's despite being a higher level, but then so does the sprite

Re: New art commission : Dunefolk
Compared to the sprite, maybe. But if you check the arm underneath, we're not all that wrong. Possibly the shield could be rotated ever so slightly and a tad further away from the body to make room for that arm. I'll let it rest a while a see how it looks when I pick it back up for color.
