Re: Hearthstone

Hard for me to really give advice but I will give a couple comments. I've never played Hearthstone hard but I've been free to playing it for forever in chunks of 3-7 games when I'm feeling braindead and the occasional arena run when I'm not. In this context, I've pretty much always found it a relaxi...

Re: 100% Accuracy. 0% Resistances/Defenses. Effect on Wesnoth?

Even then I don't think you'll find it all that useful. The kind of content design you are describing really depends a lot more on what feeling/dyanmics you are hoping to invoke than having an inmate sweet spot that Wesnoth happens to be at. In chess it takes a single attack to destroy all pieces wh...

Re: 100% Accuracy. 0% Resistances/Defenses. Effect on Wesnoth?

This is going to sound extreme but please don't dismiss it because it is. My advise would simply be that all stats from the existing material are completely useless and not worth any effort to store/analyze in the context of the system you describe. The dynamics of a game where the number of attacks...

Re: Is Wesnoth mainly luck and not skill-based?

I'd describe it like this: If your opponent is playing well and you aren't, your odds of winning are minuscule but exist. If both players are playing well, there is still plenty of opportunity for one to play better and have higher odds of winning (though he may still lose). If you are sufficiently ...

Re: Knalgan vs Loyalists

The problem Krogen is describing is one of control rather than strictly being a matter of power or even strictly offense. It's not even that knalgans cannot attack loyalists under the right conditions, it's that when both players are playing well, the knalgan can never expect to be in position to cr...

Re: Non-random Wesnoth : applying the mean effect

If you think that removing the randomness does not affect the balance, you do not understand the game. There are many things in the game whose strength is tempered by risk or somewhat weak but tempered by reliability. If you remove the risk, it fundamentally changes the balance of these capabilities...

Re: Multiplayer Replay Analysis

As a forenote: I have never played with the blind pick mod. I assume that it’s one that lets you choose your faction and leader without your opponent getting to see it. As a second forenote, it is genuinely a lot easier to learn from loses than successes. Turn 1: No Comment Turn 2: This village grab...

Re: Siege of Elensefar Starting Gold

I normally go by land just because of the gold.

The amount of gold I get there varies but I aim to have at least 300 gold.

Re: Possible factions in Fiery Cave scenarios?

--Dark Elves (by extension if you can find some deep variant of the dwarves they'd be a great fit) --Imps/Daemons, something similar to a Balrog for bonus points --Monstrous Salamander (a specific type of cave critter that should be there) --Ancient Constructs, in particular golems or colossus of br...

Re: Multiplayer Replay Analysis

Turn 1: For knowing what your opponent is playing your opening looks fine. Perhaps each of you recruited one more scout than may have been strictly necessary (particularly you as player 1) but ghosts have their uses in this matchup. Turn 2: Normally I don’t favor ghouls in this matchup unless you’re...

Creating a new era for the purpose you describe would not be at all difficult but it cannot be done in the map editor.

Re: Puzzle challenges!

Ravana: You know, I actually don't remember the name of that specific book however I do remember the name of the original book in that set. The name of the original book is "What is the Name of this Book" and it has sequels. If you find it and can hunt down everything else by that author you'll prob...

Very nice, you even got the bonus version of the question which was which set of three questions would work for all cases.

Re: Puzzle challenges!

Your answer is actually incorrect. There's a way to always get the answer within 3 questions. To give a hint, I will tell you that the vast majority of the information given (although it would be useful in a typical knights and knaves), is actually mostly irrelevant to the easiest way to solve this...

Re: Puzzle challenges!

If you're looking for an interesting one, there's one I remember reading in a book that was quite fun though I don't remember the answer. There were actually many of this style of question in the book of which this was but one however this is the one that stuck with me for some reason. >As a note I'...
