This is a good level for an assassination with scouts/riders/silver mages. If you can get just one scout/rider in close you can finish quick with your mages. However! :-D The next scene takes so much gold, and there are so many level 2 bad guys on this one it's a wonderful scene to advance units. As...

My favorite. :-) My latest strategy is mermen. They are loyal so no upkeep. I started with this in mind and by the time I got to the swamp I had 2 Triton's with flame tridents, 1 mermaid priestess, 1 Diviner, 2 nonloyal netcaster and 1 loyal entangler. I sent Kalenz, Delfordude and Lishar with this ...

First of all I almost always go south - it's fun! I find the snow plains dull. Going south you finish fast fast fast and get a huge bonus. Return to Wesnoth is expensive. By the time I get to this level even on hard I have so many level 3 units I don't need the flame sword. What I have had problems ...

2 comments. In the more famous fantasy books, LOTR, Wizard of Earthsea come to mind, healing takes not only magic but rest and nutrition. So an army on the march would only be able to heal a limited amount no matter how many healers there were. Those little level 1 shamans grow up to be very powerfu...

I keep reading 60% chance to hit - and it's not - except for horsies that is. :-) Granted the chance to hit approaches 60% *if* you catch a unit on bad ground. Many maps there is no bad ground. Trolls or undead in a cave, elusive foots almost anywhere. The actual hit percentage over 3 campaigns(HttT...

No apologies here!

The only reason to use masses of trolls and whelps above ground is to hear satisfying bonks to entertain you while losing.

In Dwarven Doors don't forget to look for the loyal Bandit! He's in one of the North east villages (close to the orcs, so use a fast scout to find him early) he comes in very handy against undead.

Trolls and Bandits. Love um.

Not because they are tough (they are) not because they deal tons of damage (trolls don't) but because they sound really neat when they bonk someone on the head.

The new trolls look very cool also.

Except against horsies absolutely useless units. In theory 60% chance to hit turns into 40% CTH in reality against troll or whelps. (I kept track 3 campaigns) Except for ghosts against undead in A Choice Must Be Made and Swamp of Dread they're completely useless. Of course by this time I have lots o...

204 gold is going to be almost impossible IMO. It may be my skill level but the only 2 times I tried this with 500 plus were sort of chancy and required several start overs. You might want top replay the SoF level and try to finish faster to come out with a big bonus. Don't recruit anyone for Home o...

Chocabones. At night. Charge=double damage. Night=+25%

One at the least can put your heaviest tank in the red. 2 is gaping holes in your line or sure death to even your strongest advanced unit.

Fortunately they're only in 2 campaigns.

Help for a fellow moderator?

Hi! First of all I finally got around to compiling 1.1.12 and it's beautiful! I really like the new troll whelps! Better landscape tiles - everything is much more polished than it was. This may be the wrong place to ask this. I'm a moderator for another board using the same software as this one. We'...
