Re: Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.41
You keep saying players are spamming. I don't know why you think that's happening. Evidently you have a narrow view of a particular class of players or else you are referring to some historical series in Isar's Cross with the same group of four players in every game. I don't think anyone is making a ...

Re: Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.41
But it been literally pointless trying to balance let's say EFM vs EFM faction if people will do 80% of games at random faction picking all players or either with the random recruits mod or a 3rd scenario the case of hard picking a faction, they will just pick EOMA destroyers or summoners to just ...

Re: Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.41
I think it's more of a vibes based balance change in Ageless Era, but I have played a series of 1v1 games with random Ageless factions with another player, which is what I assume is generally used for "balance" even if pairwise combinations of factions don't imply a balance in any other map like the ...

Re: Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.41
I do not think Yōkai units are necessarily underpowered, but rather that the unit design is not intended to be playable in the same context.
So, it does not make sense to compare a Lamia and a Northerner's grunt for the same cost of 12 gold as a "melee" unit. The Yōkai spriggan lore for all I know ...

Re: Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.41
I didn't realize the Yōkai were unmaintained for 6 years, but would it not make more sense for the units to be included on the basis of the whole faction itself? Any of the units work fine as standalone units but removing them from Ageless Era would basically purge them from the game. Are you saying ...

Re: Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.41
I thought this was a parody of my critique of adding Eastern European units from EEaW at first. Elves seems to be a generic term for non-human in a fantasy context. Factions like the Desert Elves are associated with lore from the UtBS campaign, which I guess is like Mad Max Fury Road but with Elves ...

Re: Oldschool Browser games?
https://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/ and https://kripken.github.io/misc-js-bench ... index.html are my goto for killing 5 minutes at a time but I think for multiplayer you can't beat the .io games. However, they are all monetized now.

A New Land Beyond Era
Recently Bob made a new spin on A New Land which used generated terrain extensively. I'm currently hovering around 95% CPU on turn 30 with just a small 30 unit army. Now I realize the number of units was not causing Wesnoth to overclock my little Lenovo.

Re: Dismissing a unit crashed the game
More information is neeed here, in particular:
1) wre you playing alone when the error happens?
2) Did you use the planning mode, and if yes how exactly?
3) Did you have any add-ons active during the game?
I was playing online with someone who said the planning mode was making them lag, so ...

Re: Dismissing a unit crashed the game
Do you know how I can access stderr while running wesnoth? It's been a long time since I did anything with C++. I am able to open the savegame and dismiss units, so I think this only happens in WC II on the Wesnoth server.

Dismissing a unit crashed the game
Hi, I am playing Wesnoth 1.18.5, which I compiled from source with cmake to run on Ubuntu 24.04.3 in English. I encountered an error while playing WC II yesterday, and attempted to generate a backtrace but ran into another error where wesnothd would not install. I did notice wesnothd is already in ...

Need Help Compiling on Ubuntu
Hello, I am compiling Wesnoth 1.18.5 for Ubuntu and ran into some problems. I have very little experience, so I first attempted to follow this tutorial from 2013 , but all of the dependencies were outdated. I searched how to do all of the things, got a concise summary from AI, and installed all of ...

Re: Girl unDead
The title could use a refresher. To my ear, "Girl Undead" sounds awkward, like a newspaper headline, memorandum, or perhaps even as generic as simply "Girl, age 17". Perhaps in keeping with the fidelity of the literal translation, we are losing context and/or style. Here are some alternatives which ...
