You need to enter the IP of the device that runs wesnothd. It‘s possible the android port does not contain wesnothd.

I think a note that an update might non-obviously break existing saves (on loading an old save and/or on update) is the most we can reasonably do. Figuring out what changes break saves is very much non-trivial. I wouldn’t expect every addon author to be able to recognize all the ways that can happen...

Wesnoth would have to automatically connect to the (last used or so) addon server which people might not like though this could be controlled by a preference setting. Sounds like a good idea to me.

You as the observer may get out of sync but you should not be able to change anything for the players.

My goal has never been to make Ladder Era become the new default. In fact I know it never will because it would affect SP Campaigns too much and some of the Lore. The whole idea of the Ladder Era was conceived because of this. Campaign/scenario balance has no bearing on the default era balancing at...

Note that you may already be able to run wesnoth in a terminal since SDL has an ASCII art video driver: https://wiki.libsdl.org/FAQUsingSDL (Not that I'd expect that to be a fun experience. ;))

When speaking of ladder balance we are strictly talking about 1v1 matchups. The server has enabled a keep alive feature that sends packets if the connection is idle. We've now lowered the timeout from 2 hours to 30 seconds. The 1.14 server has already been restarted. Please report if that helps without the bot workaround.

To enter your username and password manually, you would unselect the option in Preferences > Multiplayer > Save password locally (encrypted). If that option was already not selected, then the connection error was happening before the server requested your username+password. Thank you for this sugge...
