A March of Justice [MP/SP Hybrid Campaign]
Hello, Wesnothians!
A March of Justice is a rather short hybrid campaign for up to 3 players, set in the icy steppes of the far north. It has 7 playable scenarios. Since it's my first go at an MP campaign, I'm sharing it early hoping to receive useful feedback or help in spotting MP-specific bugs I wouldn't see while testing it by myself.
The players control a mix of northerner units + saurians and, most appropriately for the settings, wolves.
The gameplay mechanic is mostly standard, with a few tweaks that I hope would make for interesting decisions:

The gameplay mechanic is mostly standard, with a few tweaks that I hope would make for interesting decisions:
- When orcs (side 1) capture a village, they can decide to occupy it as usual or raze it to the ground. The village will be destroyed but this grants an immediate bonus of 15 gold.
- wolves, being pack animals, will fight better when in formation. Those who played RftA will recognize the same militia mechanic applied to the canine world.
- trolls can erect defensive rubble piles on some terrain. However, this requires their full dedication (i.e. not moving/attacking) for a turn. Trolls also have an exceptional sight from atop, but that's another story.

Re: A March of Justice [WIP Hybrid Campaign]
S1
The villages around the Troll leader don't belong to any side, I believe that's an oversight.
I think it would be good if those strengths of the player sides were explained ingame somewhere.
Why am I unable to 'Dig in' on a Grassland (Flat)? What is 'suitable' terrain? Here me -> Hear me
It's unclear whose 10 villages are meant. Everyones? Why do the villages near the red and the blue leader count? (Those don't belong to the 'village' after all.)
S2
controll -> control
Names of your leader leaders are not capitalized in the defeat conditions.
H'loué is spelled wrong in the defeat conditions of S1 and S2. And in the team name too.

Re: A March of Justice [WIP Hybrid Campaign]
Hi Konrad!
I'm testing the 6th scenario, will upload the fixes together with that. Thanks for testing the campaign!
totally, there was a typo on the side number
right, that's a good idea. I sort of assume that people would find out anyway and that everyone checks units' ability descriptions, but better safe than sorry.
in principle the 'suitable' terrain is dirt. I just realised this is specified in the description only when the ability is active. Will add the information to the 'inactive' description as well. I'm totally open to modifications here, I didn't want the ability to be usable everywhere, but maybe dirt only is too restrictive? I'm happy to hear opinions on this.
as per the note, it should be the villages owned at the start of the scenario. Again, this is not set in stone, and it could be better signaled with some visual cue. What I want to avoid is to penalize the player if the enemies plunder a village that was previously conquered. It's unlikely that the southern villages are lost so maybe I can exclude them too, if that makes things clearer and more 'realistic'.

Re: A March of Justice [WIP Hybrid Campaign]
My problem is mostly with not knowing for sure what 'suitable' terrain is. I'd personally be fine and happy with the terrains being listed, preferably if some terrains that might cause confusion are alos clarified.skeptical_troll wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2024, 7:26 pmin principle the 'suitable' terrain is dirt. Re: A March of Justice [WIP Hybrid Campaign]
version 0.2 is out with one more scenario. That was one of the scenarios that took the longest to set up, so comments and help are most welcome.
I also clarified some of the issues (objectives in S1, custom abilities) that Konrad mentioned above.

Double posting to announce that the last scenario is out and the campaign is now complete. Heads up that balancing and some details might still change quite significantly since I'm gonna keep playtesting when I've time.

Re: A March of Justice [MP/SP Hybrid Campaign]
I released the 1.0 version of the campaign, meaning the first version I considered 'finished'. I made several adjustments to the balance, added achievements, spotted and fixed a few bugs, and improved dialog here and there.
Adjustments and minor improvements are obviously still possible, so as usual comments and feedback are welcome!
