Hello, everyone.


If you’ve lurked in the Art Workshop forums lately, you’ll notice I’ve been working on a new faction.

Ironically, this seems to be badly timed, as I had no clue there was currently work being done revise the dunefolk and their lore.

This faction exist in the far eastern desserts of the Great Continent, the origin story is as follows:


Many, many years ago, sometime after Wesnoth flourished, they sent explorers and frontiersmen to every corner of the continent: the freezing cold Northern lands, above the Heart; the easternmost forested land where elves abode, and far south into the desserts. When some of the explorers returned they told stories of strange encounters with a strange race of “Men” not from their lineage—not resembling their ancestors: darker skinned, with long, thick white hair. While these encounters were peaceful, they boasted their bravery in exploring these south eastern realms, as dark, black magick swelled through and embued every part of the land.

Armies:

The armies of this faction is particularly tough. It consists of well trained, veteran professionals—mercenaries from the other lands of “Men”. Their armor consists of thick, iron plates, metal shields, and they brandish spears, halberds and swords. There are two branches which serve together to accomplish their tasks of conquest and survival: Foot Soldiers — The main tactical component; and Alchemists: the magickal and runic component that specialize in building powerful, magically enhanced weapons of destruction.

Mechanical Units: this is up and coming, and a special feature of this faction.

Grenadiers/Saboteurs—Special units that have a very powerful weapon that can also accidentally kill them… If a unit with a “fire” or “magical” type hits them there is a random chance it will explode killing the Saboteur AND injuring the account unit.

Other races are also in development which will be featured in this faction.

Bog-Orcs: legendary creatures from the deep swamps. Much larger than your average northern Orc. These muscled brutes rush through enemy lines with an enchanted blade.

Occultists: members one of the other ancient tribes of “Men”, who taught magick to the inhabitants of the southern lands. These are dark sorcerers and conjurors.
