Slave Unit

Post by Raelifin »

I have an idea for a slave unit. The unit would be incredibly weak and cheap, being great for slowing the enemy down and occupying villiages. It would be used primarily by Orcs in campains.

Here are the stats I wisked up on the fly. Needs tweaking.

Human Slave

Level 0
Cost 5
Race Human
Faction Northerners
Alignment Neutral
Moves 5
HP 10
Melee Attack
Unarmed (Impact, 2-2)

Terrain Modifiers
Sand 2, 30%
Grassland 1, 30%
Forest 2, 40%
Cave 2, 40%
Deep_water -- --
Hills 2, 40%
Canyon -- --
Swamp_water 3, 20%
Village 1, 60%
Tundra 2, 30%
Castle 1, 60%
Shallow_water 3, 20%
Cavewall -- -- Mountains 3, 50%

Resistances: Holy 20%

Human slaves are used in Orcish military as arrow fodder, distractions and suicide advance troops. Slave warfare is often succesful due to enemies refusing to shoot their own people, allowing the main Orc force to advance to close range.

If you have anything to add to the concept or balance please speak up!
Edit: I was looking at the walking corpse and it seems mine is greatly underpowered....

Well, honestly, I don't see the conceptual difference between this guy and the peasant. The peasant does cost slightly more, and is slightly better, but other than that would be used in mostly the same way.

Wow, the terrain stats are almost exactly the same. Perhaps its not worth discussing the idea for this unit when a similar one is already published.

The point was to make that sort of unit for the orcs.

I think the stats would be better with these changes:
Change gold to 4
Change attack to Fist (Impact, 5-2)

At this point I'm happy enough with the concept I dont realy need any more input. Post if you feel like it, just dont feel obligated to.

Just wondering; are you aware of the existence of the Goblin Spearman?

So, now, I can see the purpose of this unit, but only for a campaign. Not as a general unit.

That is both against the rules of the Ideas forum, and also is not a valid argument.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

Actually, I agree with Belwar. I had the idea to do a unit and this was mostly to be an art chalenge. I figured I'd post some stats in this forum for kicks but I realy think that the unit has no use outside of campains.
