Exciting changes coming in 1.13.6

Post by vultraz »

Just wanted to share some screenshots of some exciting stuff we're working on for the next dev release:

Firstly, as some of you know, the experimental GUI2 MP Lobby has been buggy for many, many releases now. We've been working to iron out many of the usability issues and improve the interface, and it will be enabled by default in the next release.

Secondly, and more exciting, we've designed a brand new GUI2 Create Game screen that merges both the Create and Configure areas into one place for convenience.

You might also notice a major improvement in the minimap quality.

As always, feedback is welcome, and we hope you enjoy these changes once 1.13.6 is out (we're aiming for a release late next month) :D

How does hover on checkbox(and any other setting element) look with multiline description?

Are used modifications visible when there are more than five?

I'm not sure what you mean by "multiline description". Are you talking about tooltips? In which case, they display fine.

The mods list has space to grow to the bottom of the screen, so certainly more than 5 will be visible at once :)

Yes, tooltips, previously they have scaled to almost unreadable, even when inserted manual line breaks.

Here's an example of the tooltips. That's as wide as they get.

perhaps should change like that, as game info and join game button being on opposite sides of the screen doesnt really make sense.

Not supported, as that would mess up button lines when there are multiple games with different name. Though not sure if those buttons are needed for each row at all.

Yupp, have noticed there is an join and observe button at the right bar, probably could take out from each row.

well, if you can do like that, can display multiple games in a row(probably 2-3).

Sadly, we cannot put multiple games in a row due to limitations in our gui system.

Actually, you probably could, using a grid instead of a listbox. With the way grids currently work though, I suppose it would be harder to work with on the code level. (And it probably wouldn't be good for low resolutions.)

Can't wait to try out the changes, hoping that they will render the interface more clear, quick and intuitive. :D

I did absolutely nothing, but I made the thread so I'm going to claim all the credit, alright?
