Re: Vilkai Art Thread

Post by Bitron »

Feels good to read that my work is a pleasure for someone else. (:
The sprites for this faction are my first sprites at all and at the beginning of something the learn curve is always quite high. ^^

Im doing not that well with little things like feathers or rings ore adornment like that, this is why I havent done much like that, but ill try to glam them up at the end a bit.

Besides that, I was thinking about a female vilkish shaman.
What do you think about her?

The second one is great, I love that you don't go crazy with the pallet as some (me) do.
...apparenly we can't go with it or something.

Love the flowers in the hair. And the fact that despite such a detail she is still very readable.

I decided to implement an own shaman instead of using the orcish ones as allies in the faction. They will still have connections within the campaigns, but nevertheless, the vilkai have they own shamans and they want to fight for their folks.
Here's the first shaman sprite.

yeah, that's a much better idea, orcish shaman are super rare even in orcish armies (they are usually spiritual leaders) so why the heck would they fight in the frontline of a completely different nation? you got a point here

The bones (?) in his hair are kinda hard to make out and the string in his hand is barely visible and not enough teamcolour for the whole sprite. Otherwise it is a great concept.

Here it is with a bit more TC. It's still quite subtile, but visible enough, imo.
I'm not sure about how to deal with the bones (yes, bones) in the hair.. should I make them bigger? :/

I'm not sure wht to do with the bones either. For higher levels maybe a bone crown or a sort of skull-mask. For level 1 making them bigger might work, but if it doesn't I'd just leave as they are and make it part of their description

It feels like every sprite I create needs more time than the one before. ^^
Maybe I should change the colouring a bit, but besides that, what do you think? (:

...and I feel like every Sprite you do looks better than before! :D
I like the lvl 2 Shaman and find it nice how you use decorations on him.
