Re: DeCoolest Art
Here is the unit tree I've created. All critiques on the art are welcome of course, but if you find anything wrong with the unit progression, tell me. The big ?s are just for units without art yet. The small ?s are for units I'm not sure I'll add.

Re: DeCoolest Art
The polar bears are cool (I realize Vyncyn is the original creator of the bears, at least you have good taste), but I believe the units look too similar. Maybe crop down the bear in level 2 or change the spear angle on one of them to emphasize the change in size. Something to make it clear at a glance who is level 2 or 3.

Re: DeCoolest Art
Those are very small changes, would they help you easily distinguish them, if you didn't have the time or interest in analyzing every pixel (i.e. "at a glance")?
Sorry if I sound like a jerk.
The bear is pretty big, I'd still suggest cropping it down to a smaller size for the level2.

Draw a bear skeleton (riderless), people will love you for it.
...apparenly we can't go with it or something.

Re: DeCoolest Art
Do you mean an undead bear? If you want the riderless bears, I've put them in this zip folder. I took them from around the forums and add-ons server. Sorry for not understanding what you meanMidnight_Carnival wrote:Draw a bear skeleton (riderless), people will love you for it.

Re: DeCoolest Art
I've been mostly coding my campaign, so I haven't made a ton of progress with the art. But here is the revised unit tree for anyone wanting to see my new sprites. The level 2 netcaster has been cropped down, and a level 1 thunderer, level 2 crossbowman, and level 3 spearman alt have been added. The cap on the crossbowman seems off to me, do you think it is too big? Also, does the spear on the javelineer seem too small compared to the head?

Re: DeCoolest Art
Hi.
Like what you've done here.
Tweaks of the grizzly bear, especially the back leg and head.
2 versions: mouth open and closed.
Hell, I could even do a simple standing animation if you want.

Re: DeCoolest Art
Looks great! I'm assuming you would be cool with me using it, and of course I'll credit you. If you want to make a standing animation, go right ahead, but you don't have to. I'm gonna try it myself. Just to let you know, I didn't create the grizzly bear sprite. I'm curious of why you haven't been contributing art so far. You are easily more talented than I am.

Re: DeCoolest Art
Not sure posting art in another's art thread is actually ok... But for the the sake of healthy competition... and to keep the bears together.
Maybe too much movement? Or too little?

Re: DeCoolest Art
I think the end of the upwards movement is a bit fast. Add 1 extra frame in between?
And posting in somebody else's thread is fine when you're working together on something

Re: DeCoolest Art
I agree with GunChleoc, the upwards movement is too fast. I created two different animations myself. I'd like to know which one to improve on and which to scrap. Does the mouth opening/closing look weird. I'm on the fence with it.

Re: DeCoolest Art
I think the shape of the mouth is easier to read on yours. I think it's still too early to say which one to work on.
The new spearman javelineers look awesome. Although, they were that already.
Not perfect but smoother: The wml version of the gif:

Slower than 280, might be better...?

Re: DeCoolest Art
I'm reasonably happy with that animation. I have other projects, but I think I'll start working on the attack animations as well.

The downward movement could be a tiny bit faster than the upward movement overall, because it's more effort to pull something up than to let it drop - if WML allows you to time the frames, that is. Otherwise, leave it as it is
