Yeah, they were. They aren't anymore, since the meaning has changed completely.
Not completely, as you yourself have pointed out. :-)

Regardless, the unit still doesn't look like a tyrant, but a knight. (Actually I'm not sure what a tyrant would look like. Peisistratus? King George III? ? early Renaissance condottiere?)

With which I agree totally. :-)

flip the axe head in the other direction. Otherwise, yes, he's looking cool.

Also, scott, the head is largely the thing making him look like samwise. I'll take a look at that when I get back to my room.

Anyone can be a tyrant, even an armored knight.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

Jetryl may have a point, so I've made a version with the axe head facing the other way. Both are attached.

I'm fairly happy with the base model; now comes the far more difficult task of creating animations.

The way I see it, A looks like he's going to axe someone, and B looks like he's standing around with an axe.

which is why B should be used for when he's standing around, ie the default image, and A can be the beginnings of an animation...

b.

a looks wrong. The head would want to be on the lower side (the outside here) of the shaft. Plus he could get a nasty cut if he makes a quick turn to his right.
