Re: The Amaranthine Stone 1.0.3 - SP Campaign For 1.10.7

Post by FaeLord »

I'm planning on moving to Romania for awhile this summer, so I'm not going to upgrade until I get there. And yes, I use Mac only and I could get one that will run 1.12 fairly inexpensively, but I don't really see the point if I'm leaving so soon. The only thing I need a newer computer for is Wesnoth and as much as I love it, it can wait until then.

1.12.2 version uploaded today. A note to anyone posting in this thread - I am moving to Romania tomorrow and my old computer has died. I'm not sure how long it will be before I have a new one and I'm back online, but if I don't reply to your post, that's why. Enjoy the new version and as always, feel free to send me your replay files because I love to watch them.

I have the following cryptic error with 1.12:

Code: Select all

Invalid or unsupported charset:utf-8 or add-ons/Amaranthine_Stone/translations

Hi Zephandrypus:

The file size is due to music and sound effect files. As stated in a previous post, I will be working on an era so I don't have to include that stuff in future campaigns. Hope you enjoy the campaign.

Hello FaeLord,

I have a bug whereas when I download the Amaranthine Stone add-on, it crashes my Battle for Wesnoth screen to the desktop.

More specifically: I make a fresh install of BfW 1.12.2. I launch the game and it works (able to play mainline campaigns for ex.). I then download the Am. Stone add-on and when I launch BfW it crashes straight to Windows. I am not even able to open BfW anymore.

I don't know if I'm the only one with this bug but thought you'd want to know.

Regards,

RdR

Not good. I got the same thing when I tried to download it to the computer here in this internet cafe' that I've been using until I can get a new computer for myself. If any of the mods are reading this, can one of you please pull the campaign from the 1.12 server for now? I don't have a personal computer to work from at the moment and I won't for another few days. I have no idea what is causing this, but I'll look into it. It may have something to do with the error posted earlier. I wrote and tested the campaign on OS-X and had no problems at all. The computer at this cafe is running Windows though.

I will try to replicate/debug this.

Noticed missing newline, unlikely to cause crash though

Code: Select all

[textdomain]
	name="wesnoth-Amaranthine_Stone" path="data/add-ons/Amaranthine_Stone/translations"
[/textdomain]
Actually this work looks beautiful.. might even try to play this.

Didnt crash for me. However I didnt install dependency OR have any sounds enabled at all. I have seen some bug reports about wesnoth crashing if music is enabled.

Thanks Ravana. Very perplexing. I did crash for me on this internet cafe' computer, but as it's an internet cafe' computer I can't really start digging around in the config files and all my data is sitting in a cloud storage facility until I can get a new computer. Feel free to play the campaign, and let me know what you think! If you run across any bugs, please let me know that too.

I finished playing this.Nice elvish campaign.

But I found crash bug.
Crash is happened when I choose 'Difficult' in difficulty select dialog. In case Easy and Normal not happen.
In Wesnoth 1.12.2, Amaranthine Stone 1.0.4.

And, Why lv3 Blink's regenerate is only +4HP? lv2 Blink have regenerate +8.

With hard it just fails to load, but doesnt crash.

Code: Select all

The following add-on had errors and could not be loaded:
    C:/Users/Lenovo/Desktop/wesnoth related/unplayable1.12.2/userdata/data/add-ons/Amaranthine_Stone/_main.cfg

Please report this to the author or maintainer of this add-on.

Details:

Preprocessor symbol 'LIMIT_RECRUITS' expects 3 arguments, but has 4 arguments
    at ~add-ons\\Amaranthine_Stone\\scenarios\\02_Fellmarch_Fens.cfg:163
        included from ~add-ons\\Amaranthine_Stone\\_main.cfg:48
{LIMIT_RECRUITS 2 Bone Shooter 2}
Yet another reason why I create all ids without spaces, less bother with quotes then.

Cool. That one's an easy fix. Thanks Ravana. I still won't have a personal computer for a few weeks, and when I do again, I'll be on Ubuntu, not Windows, but I'll still see what I can track down about that other mysterious error that no one else has brought up again as yet. I was scrambling up until the time I had to leave for the airport to get a version up for 1.12, and I did not have time to test on Hard. I got an email from another player saying he couldn't get it to load on Hard either, but he did not provide the precise details.

Hi Rat:

Blink is never supposed to regenerate more than 4 hp. Another detail I apparently missed in my rush to get the campaign up before I had to leave for Romania. I'll fix that. Thanks for the heads up, and thanks for playing the campaign.

Cool. Thanks gooby. I finally got a Mac shipped to me here in Romania and have downloaded Wesnoth. I'll get to work on fixing the errors asap. However, as I am also working on another project, it may not be immediate.
