alternative AMLA for more fun in long campaigns v19
this is inspired by Kaleh's Amla in utbs and some forum discussions about different AMLAs (After maximal level advancement)
if you switch the standard amla.cfg (units heal, gain 3hp and need 20% more xp for next amla) for my (you have to remove the original file from the folder, otherwise it will still be used)
you get:
- the ability to advance in 5 branches (range, melee, magic, defense, scouting)
- more fun using advanced troops (I used to feel that using advanced troops wastes xp since they cannot gain anything any more ..)
- it probably breaks any intended difficulty for campaigns so use at your discretion and/or adjust the xp requirements at the beginning of the file
edit:
version 17 - added the possibility to train marksmanship to melee and ranged branches.
version 18 - simplified xp requirements and added some comments for easier adaptability
version 19 - bug fix id ranged marksman
(you can just switch the file amla....cfg for the new version. No need to restart the scenario or campaign.)

Seems really cool. Going to test it out in HttT.

Hi,
It seems very interesting, AMLA is the only thing that frustrates me in Wesnoth.
I have tried your config, but when a unit reaches a new level, I can only see the heart icon to increase its health. The other options don’t appear.
Maybe it’s a resolution problem (I am running 800x600 in Android version), but I don’t see a scroll bar either.
Thanks!

I didn't create icons so all options will show the heart icon.
the amla progression starts with only 1 option: "movement +1, you have become elite: regenerate 3 HP every turn, HP +3"
if you level again you can start training in the 5 different branches.
I just tried again with 800x600 in the linux version. This seems to work fine.
What text appeared next to your heart icon? What happened after you levelled and if you level again?
If this is really a bug, is there a version difference of the android version?

Ah, OK, I didn't know the first time you can't choose.
I'll try to level up the same unit again and see if it works.
Thanks!
