Wesnoth can't recover a deleted file.
Although most (or even all?) filesystems just mark the space occupied by a deleted file as "ready for being overwritten".
As long as the overwriting did not take place you can recover a deleted file with filesystem specific tools.
Thus the exact procedure (and amount of work) depends on your operating system and the filesystem used by it.
