Wesnoth turns ten today

Post by Dave »

Ten years ago today I released Wesnoth 0.1 upon the world, after two weeks of development. Today after hundreds of volunteers have contributed, Wesnoth is still enjoyed by people around the world.

It's great to see Wesnoth still going after all this time. :)

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Wesnoth and its success!

Interesting to read this... Good job you've started back then. Wondering how could have that wesnoth 0.1 looked with only 2 weeks of work spent on it.

It was ugly as hell.

I found it on the "Linux Game Tome" back then.
Sadly this Website was closed not long ago.
It was reachable under http://www.happypenguin.org.
There is hope that it might get resurrected some day.

I played once and thought:
"What an ugly piece of [censored]."
Deleted it again.

Thanks God that I gave it a second chance some month later.

Happy birthday, Wesnoth! ^_^

I learned a lot and met some cool people thanks to this game. Oh, and I also killed plenty of time by playing it too. :)

I'll also never forget the pleasure of being able to represent the Battle for Wesnoth team at the Google SoC Mentor's summit along with YogiHH. That was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I wouldn’t have been able to tell that’s my thread by just looking at the number. I’m terrible at numbers.

But yeah, my articles are currently somewhat broken because Photobucket is holding my images hostage and I haven’t bothered to relocate them yet.

UPDATE 2013-06-19 05:58 UTC: And fixed at long last.

Happy Birthday Wesnoth :)

Discovering it back in 2010 was the event that actually got me into really trying to learn coding. Still remember when I thought _main.cfg was a folder... :lol2:

Wow, it's hard to believe that it caught somebody's eye back then. But so good that it did :lol2:

Happy birthday wesnoth! I can still remember when I first played the game back in 2004. So much has changed since then, it's incredible. The project has come a long way, and I hope we can make it even better in the next 10 years!
