No, it was meant to be PHWOOOOAR!

:P

(goer can also be (somewhat outdated) british slang for attractive person.

Not that I meant that, just to be clear. Zero's sprite and concept looks like an excellent one to pursue.

I;d suggest keeping the animations reasonably simple if possible, and ideally, coming up with a schema that can work for all ancient liches (i.e. a number of frames, distances and timings etc around which to build) such that the animation becomes systematised despite the big differences in base frames that are in the plan.

Personally, I prefer the original.

Not that my opinion has much meaning... :)

That's a coincidence we would all be making this at the same time long after the portrait was finished... I too was working on a Jevyan sprite when this thread was started... I'll post it for the world to see even though Zerovirus already made a awesome one.

Lordbob suggested in the portrait thread that Jevyan has the lower body of a Naga. So I googled serpent spine and made this. I think it might be the hardest one to read, also there's no TC. I forgot whether a unique hero/villain needs a team color, is it a requirement? I tried staying as close to the portrait that I could without compromising readability. Some colors are more saturated and details are removed.

A snakelike Jevyan is cool. It's Readable and crisp. Somewhat reminding of Shaxthal. The sketched hands are a bit huge on the battle mode, Like the claws of ghouls. That something to consider for ancient liches too, whats stopping them from using mutated bones from ghouls to make up bodyparts too? It does make it look more snaky, maybe because they make the body look smaller. In any case, you succed with your intention. :)

I like the idea of a cloaked mode and battle mode for Jevyan. If an alternate cloaked portrait was made it could be used to delay revealing of his full form. Though that kind of plot device has been used some times already.

Well, Sleepwalker's improved version could definitely be considered attractive. :D

All the sprites have a distinctive style, in my humble opinion-A-Red's is sturdy, strong and almost arrogant, whereas Zerovirus's appears more mysterious, and Sleepwalker's depicts Jevyan as almost elegant. I'd say it all depends on how you want to portray Jevyan-which one fits his character?
High over valleys in the red levelling rays -
In din of crowded streets, going among the years, the faces,
May I still meet my memory in so lonely a place
Between the streams and the red clouds, hearing the curlews, Hearing the horizons endure.

Actually, it's perfect for something in a UMC I'm working on. Would you mind if I used it? (assuming it doesn't enter the campaign you intended it for)

P.S. I think it makes a better avatar than your old one

I have to say, I prefer the horns on Zero's version, but otherwise, I really like this a LOT. I'd probably throw me weight behind this one.

From the mantle/upper arms upward, I'd say Sleepwalker's is far and away the best. Below that, it does get pretty jumbled and confusing. The lower arms are a bit hard to read as arms, the ribcage seems too small (and the jar, which is probably my favorite detail of the concept, is pretty much lost), and the snaky head (in both Sleepwalker's and Zero's) feels a little awkward and pasted on. I feel it's too fine a detail to include in amongst all those arms and everything else without destroying a lot of the overall readability, which is why I left it out.

Hey crew. I'm really glad to see that the portrait has inspired some of you sprite makers. :D
Just throwing in my two cents, but so far Zerovirus' examples are what best fits the Jevyan that I imagined in matters of attitude : when immobile, his lower body would remain hidden in the recesses of his cloak, whereas in some specific animations - or some key game sequences - the cloack would open/float and reveal the freakish assembly he calls his body.
