Re: Vranca´s artwork
Those oval things, one on chest and three on belt, they have brightest highlight more like an outline.
I'd suggest making those highlights at least 1/2 their current length, maybe 1/3 or 1/4.
I am assuming the yellow material is somewhat reflective, and the brightest highlight is specular highlight.

Re: Vranca´s artwork
Impressive work Vranca. I am loving the hoplites and manubites. (oh, and that mage looked awesome.) I would like to ask one thing though. Is it just me or is the units placement a bit too low? I'd have to save them and check but they look slightly too low. I'd check into that if you find the time. (The feet/shadow is meant to be about y=60 in pixel) Other then that, great work.

Re: Vranca´s artwork
If you're looking for critique, I'd like to throw two points out there regarding the latest two sprites:
1. Flyswatting. Essentially it looks like they're spread out in a two-dimensional plane, rather than taking up three dimensions. Using more foreshortening, especially with limbs and weapons, will help to avoid flyswatting.
2. You're using a lot of 45º angles (specifically on the gladiator). A few of those aren't bad, and can actually make the sprite look cleaner if used sparingly, but if you use too many the sprite starts looking rigid and non-organic.
That said, your work is none too shabby otherwise. And I like that you're experimenting with new palettes.

Re: Vranca´s artwork
the center of mass is not between the legs, me thinks.
are you intending to have a more clearly defined lit side and shadow side?

Re: Vranca´s artwork
Concept is very cool, but somehow, it looks as if he's tilted his hip all the way to his left... it's like the left leg isn't part of his body.

Re: Vranca´s artwork
Shame about the facing.
The muscles of his left arm are not humanly realistic. But for an ogre, why not?
The other arm is untidiness. Where is the hand?
I love the pants and shading of the folds of tissue in particular (draped effect).

Re: Vranca´s artwork
Here's a new Greek unit.
EDIT:
And another version with a slightly changed palette so it would look more like silver. Help is welcome especially with the palette and shading.

Some crits:
I don't get the antennae on that last sprite, looks bug-ish.
Color-wise I'd say you are missing the dark range on some sprites, adding more contrast could really push these a bit further.
Other than that, these are pretty cool

Re: Vranca´s artwork
In 'Tree3', the 2nd and 3rd level units are quite hard to tell apart. Especially if they end up in-game, when they could both be facing the same way. Otherwise, they all look really good.
