Golems
What do you think about this idea? There is Wose, Yeti, Ogre... so why not golem? Below are shown some proposals of images (in my opinion, the Diamond Golem is too transparent, what do you think?).
Clay Golem
level 1
damage: 9, two times
hp: 28
Stone Golem
level 2
damage: 12, two times
hp: 42
Diamond Golem
level 3
damage: 12, three times
hp: 50
nightstalk
very big defences, above 50%
Stone G. can also evolve into Emerald (ambush), Ruby (fire throwing - damage 16x2, or (if throwing at 2 hexes) 15x1), Sapphire (can move through water)

there is a rock golem in FtF. It has a very weak attack, but is almost impossible to kill.

Also probably the same way that English, Celtic, Greek, Indian, etc mythologies end up in WesnothMRhe wrote:Golems are a pretty standard element in a lot of fantasy genres.scott wrote:How does Jewish mytholigy end up in Wesnoth?

While I have nothing against the concept of golems, I think that these ideas aren't all that great. Why should diamond/rubby/etc. act the way you describe? Better for the third level to be a "granite golem," or these should at least be renamed "dark golem", "fire golem", etc.
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the drug store, but that's just peanuts to space.

I have much against the idea of golems, and, since this is not in the Ideas Forum, i am free to express this dislike.
golem=primitive robot. automaton controlled by a human caster. now what does that sound a lot like?
undead, of course! now why is it a good idea to add another race that is conceptually the same as a current race, when we already have > enough units?

Yeah, I don't see a ton of purpose to it outside of special campaigns.
Even still, I would suggest coming up with good graphics AND animations before one tries to do three levels of the unit, and before someone musses with stats.
With the notable exception of the woses, none of our units were accepted into the game until decent graphics were finished for them, regardless of how good the idea behind the unit was.

Well, yeah. A "human archer" is pretty much a given. Even non-fantasy strategy games have human archers. (ex: age of empires, civilization).LibrarianBrent wrote:The Loyalist archer was pretty much accepted before animated and completed w/ regards to graphics, but otherwise, yeah.
A human archer and a human swordsman are the basic staples of any medieval -whatever- combat game.
