Is it possible to disable caching game lists in archive?

Post by Quetzalcoatl »

Is it possible to disable caching game lists in replay archive? Currently one has to wait few minutes before he will be able to access replay. I wrote new ladder and it is kind of a frontend to replay archive. Because of that wait time it can be frustrating for players and thats quite a issue for me. I wonder how it can be solved or if there is a better way.

Cheers

Hmm, I'm not an expert on this, but I can't work out: does it need permission?

So far as I'm aware, it's not scanning the site. In fact all it does is open replays from the site when you manually feed it a link (very almost the same would be achieved by just downloading the replay yourself and uploading that, but it would lose the verification that it occurred on the official server). It does scan the replay provided and extract information from that. Does that qualify it as a robot?

Of course if it really is ambiguous it's nice to ask for permission.

Yes I have similar feelings as Scatha but maybe you know who are replay archive owners so I can contact them?

Drop by #wesnoth-mp on irc.freenode.net sometime. Relevant people would probably be noy and Soliton.

I guess if you're not scanning the entire replay archive it's fine.
