you can get the callstack on mac using the activity monitor:
http://mac.appstorm.net/how-to/os-x/mak ... y-monitor/
(search for sample)

i've currently no access to a mac, but you should be able to copy and post the callstack...

I already posted performance issue there, linking it here to be sure it gets to the right people. Please look at it.

wesnoth 1.8.6
win7 64bit
4gb ram
intel i3 cpu (2*2.13ghz, m330)
game starts up very slowly, loads multiplayer server very slowly
it's usually slow when there was some change. i think it needs a lot of time to build a new cache or smth

what can i do to increase performance and what might cause it?

what does slow mean? are we talking about seconds or minutes?
what add-ons do you have installed?

A few minutes. Usually 1 to 3 minutes to build the cache or whatever it is trying to do.
Lots of addons. I can give you a list if that helps.
Should I copy something like stderr.txt (it is empty now)? What else can I do?

The "lots of addons" thing is the problem. Move just Ageless Era (as this is known to be very, very big with a lot of units which need to be parsed) outside of your add-on folder (don't delete it, just move it away) and be surprised by how that will speed Wesnoth up. In fact, the more add-ons you have, the slower Wesnoth will be. There is no way around this.

Does the game store anywhere else what addons I do have installed?

I mean, if I just move it out / move it back, I'll be alright?
Do I have to restart the game for an addon to work (after copying into my directory)?

You will have to restart the game, that's right. The game reads the whole add-on directory each time on startup (that's also one of the reasons why it gets very slow with lots of (big) add-ons).
So, yes, you are alright if you move it just away and back; and, no, the installed add-ons aren't stored anywhere AFAIK.

1. Playing the campaign "The Hammer of Thursagan", scenario "THoT 5 - Invaders" (The one with the villagers fighting against invaders), hardest level. The first rounds run smooth, but then the orcish AI needs up to half a minute to make a move (Usually I'm playing on 16x speed). Sometimes it catches itself again, and finishes the whole turn in a few seconds in normal 16x speed then. Next round it's the same again, though. The whole process is blocked in that time, I can't click any menu item, the graphic isn't repainted etc.

2. Windows XP Professional, SP 3
Battle for Wesnoth 1.9.12, DE
4GB, 2x2,33GHz (At least I think so.)

3. 50-70% CPU Usage, when running in normal speed around 20%.

Windows 7 SP1 64 bits
CPU 2.30 GHz
RAM 4 Go

Wesnoth 1.9.12

Animations of spearman attacking toward south, south-west or south-east are considerably slower (1.0s) than other animations (~0.5s), is it normal?

I think the animations are being slowed down... I'm not sure though. I know some are getting more frames.

What seems to have been the problem is errors on the hard disc (file system I guess). I downloaded and ran the bootable SeaTools for DOS which was able to find and repair a number of disc errors. The computer is no longer slow after boot and the hard drive light does not stay on!

My computer seems to be running slightly slower, but this is probably the result of endless tweaking I did, and reverting to older drivers etc!

Hope this helps!
