Panzer Corps Wehrmacht

I recently started this game.

For me, it's kind of a mix of Steel Panthers and Battle for Wesnoth. The gameplay mechanics resemble Wesnoth surprisingly much, actually. The game's really addicting too. Anyone here played it?

To be honest, this doesn't remind me of wesnoth so much of the 'X at war' series (which I believe is by the same company). I think most of the resemblance comes from the fact that the majority of games of this genre have similar mechanics but if you look at the nuances focuses and dynamics, I think you'll find two very different games.

That said, I have no doubt that it is likely (as in most fans of the genre would probably enjoy it) an excellent game.

It's a Panzer General clone, but modded Panzer General 2 or Open general > this one.

Tbh, modded Panzer/Open General > Wesnoth in sp too.

I think I played a board game called Panzer general once, but it was nothing like that.

If we're at it, I just have found (insert name of turn-based wargame or tactical RPG here), it looks kinda similar to Wesnoth.
Gee, maybe because Wesnoth is mix of turn-based wargames and tactical RPGs...?
EDIT: Oh, I forgot. Game I have found is played on hexes. Now THAT'S really similar to Wesnoth.

Wesnoth isn’t the first game to use hexagonal tile maps, though. One of Dave’s inspirations is yet another hex-based game.

I actually thought about using Squad Leader (1977!) as example, but that would be bit too far fetched.
On the other hand, it is WW2 wargame, just like Panzer Corps Wehrmacht...

Yeah, but it isn't anything like Squad Leader either, entirely different scale and mechanics.

I wrote a bit about the history of hex based games in this thread:

What I'd love to see is a mac port for a hex based wargame, ANY wargame whatsoever.
I suspect having one foot in the past is the best way to understand the present.
