My selection of preferred games are:

Wesnoth - considering the possibility of trying to do my own campaign
StarCraft2 (sometimes) - beat it, now I'm just going back to get the medals I missed
Fallout: New Vegas - This one will suck you in and take away hours without you realizing it
Romance of the Three Kingdoms (pick 'em) - It's VERY similar to Wesnoth in playstyle
Lensmoor - Been sucked into this MUD since 1999...and it will probably never let go

I'm playing Resident Evil 5 at the moment and I'm a bit disappointed. I'm not sure when exactly, but the concept of "horror" changed drastically, both in video games and in movies. Now, "horrors" aren't meant to scare, they are a simple and mindless massacre.
Recently, the only game that actually was scary was Doom 3 - monsters were showing up rarely, building up a tense atmosphere of fear and loneliness. In RE5, zombies are everywhere, their heads explode, guts are all over the place etc. And most importantly, you are not alone - you meet many soldiers, helicopters and trucks. I remember early Resident Evils, in which you had a heart attack almost every time you encountered a monster. I really don't understand why "horror" games developers think that the more blood, the better.
Oh, I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?

You're after (specifically) "survival horror". This genre is on the decline. We're getting a lot of FPS's+zombies lately in their place. :(

I've just started to get back into Battle for Wesnoth, if only I didn't suck at the multilplayer! The Humble Indie Bundle has also been taking up a lot of my time; especially Atom Zombie Smasher and VVVVV. Finally I've been playing competitive Team Fortress 2 for around 2 and a half years now.

They seem to have been on the uprise since Left 4 Dead 2 really. Lots of developers are jumping on the bandwagon I suspect.

Have you tried Amnesia: The Dark Descent ?
If you haven't, I recommend everyone give it a shot.

Playing Mass Effect 2 right now. My favorite mainline RPG currently, though I'm sad that it's going more of the FPS road than the RPG one. Finally bought both ME1 & 2 for PC so I could create continuity for my character in ME3. The default choices are lame.

I tried Fallout New Vegas...but now I need to take a bath in bleach. God, I miss Black Isle.

So I'm left with Wesnoth, and Infectonator

I'd ask why NOT? :) Superb game, even if the computer is too easy to annihilate in Battles.
