Adobe Photoshop Elements 8, some imagination, good reference, and a lot of time.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 Tm. It is useful for layers and transparency.

Why do I get the feeling that the OP just made the topic to talk about himself? :hmm:

Anyways, I rarely if ever sprite, but when I do I just use paint. Although I use GIMP for features I can't get on paint.

:o Oh wow, that thread is still around? I thought it was lost to auto-pruning, back in the day...

@powershot: No, MS Paint doesn't support transparency. GIMP and Photoshop do (Pixen probably does also, but I can't remember).

Thought so  , or I would have used paint; since I have to use a different computer to use photo-shop.

Really?

Basically it's the free, open-source equivalent of Photoshop. (Well... obviously there's no such thing, but if there was, GIMP is the closest)

If you're on mac, Seashore is a pretty reasonnable slightly watered down port of GIMP in which you might be interested, too.
