Re: Campaign art - Sceptre of Fire
It's been a while...
I've finished Rugnur and decided to set aside any further modifications of arm and axe: both have already been changed once and the pursuit of "better" does not always lead to "good".
I'm now starting shading for Baglur.

Wow. You are really pushing the standard for mainline artwork forward. Just this single portrait would make me want to replay the whole campaign again. I think this one receives The grand stamp of approval and awesomeness from the peanut gallery! Cheers, and go and have yourself a cookie, for it is well earned!

Re: Campaign art - Sceptre of Fire
Well, thanks
Work in progress for Baglur. For a change, I've decided I'd first lay down lights and darks only: I'm hoping that this will save time by avoiding future revisions of depth and light levels.

Another victim of the basilisk.
Just kidding!
Nice to see more of you art. I really like your art for SoF.

Perhaps more shading, including on the head. And more lightness on the metal, especially on the unarmed hand. no ?

Well, how time flies by...
I've finally been able to make some progress on Baglur, whom I believe is almost done.
Also, shadows layout for Thursagan.

Re: Campaign art - Sceptre of Fire
Baglur's mouth looks really off-centre - partly at least because it looks like it's turned out to a s3/4 view, where the rest of his head is straight on. NOt sure what to do about it though...

Re: Campaign art - Sceptre of Fire
The coloring/shading of his face seems somewhat off.
Re: Campaign art - Sceptre of Fire
I don't really see a problem with the mouth. It looks like a lopsided grin to me, maybe as if he just said something or is about to.

Wow. Every time you make another portrait for this campaign, it becomes my new favorite! Maybe it's just because I really like the dwarves, but anyway...
I was thinking the same thing as zookeeper, that it's just a specific facial expression. Granted, I'm not an artist, so you can take my comments with a grain of salt.

I really, really love all the detail you put into Thursgan! Can't wait to see how he'll turn out.
Baglur is great, too! And I don't see anything wrong with his mouth. But I'm a bit bothered by his head's overall shape, it doesn't really feel like a ball but rather flat.

Re: Campaign art - Sceptre of Fire
The skin tone of Baglur pretty different from Rugnur and most of the other dwarf portraits. That may be what Scaeb was detecting. Although that may not be a problem for some dwarves to be very fair skinned or ruddy, I just thought I would mention it before you finalize him.

Re: Campaign art - Sceptre of Fire
maybe the skin is reflecting to much?
it's like ha had a shower and oiled his skin

I don't see any problems with an elf-woman hitting somebody with a mace...
Re: Campaign art - Sceptre of Fire
No, I meant, his face seems much flatter than the rest of his body/armor.

Re: Campaign art - Sceptre of Fire
I'll grant you the mouth displays a twist that is rarely seen, however not biologically impossible so I'll keep it unchanged lest the pursuit of "better" leads me to the unfirendly land of "worse".
The roundness of the head is a valid concern, though, so I'll make sure to fix that (and a number of other things) in the next version.
