Multiplayer maps descriptions

Post by cedric »

I just committed support for multiplayer map descriptions.

Just add a

Code: Select all

description= _ "This map is blah blah blah..."
attribute in the [multiplayer] tag of your map, and voilà.

You can use this feature to describe the type of game, suggest good settings, explain the goals, etc.

Feel free to suggest descriptions to already existing maps. :)

Weslin Bridge: A 2v2 map set on a bridge. Players 1 and 3 must be allied, along with players 2 and 4.

Blitz: A small, fast map with emphasis on strategy.

Castles: A roundabout map with four players around a central river.

Across the River: Two players separated by a river with a hidden surprise.

As long as you wish. They show up as a tooltip.

It would be cool to have the tooltip appear on the map image for a person in the lobby, too, along with the map's name.

Wesbowl: Invented originally by dwarves as a method of training, it soon spread across Wesnoth when captured orcs were made to play it to the death. Then the orcs escaped, and spread the game. In Wesbowl, a player must get their ball to the other player's end zone. However, the other player can attack your units. Wesbowl is played with blunt weapons, and healers are on hand, so when units are killed, they return to that player's end zone with an injury.

And maybe encourage people to include a version number in their descriptions? Makes it difficult otherwise to keep track of all the changes going on!

there's a version number elsewhere on the server. look at the third or so column from the left... why would a version number go in the description too? :?

ur thinking of campaign server Turin, this is multiplayer
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the drug store, but that's just peanuts to space.

oh, right, sorry about that...

but usually you don't have a whole lot of different versions of MP maps, so i don't think it should be required, only suggested. and official maps don't change that often.
