An Opinion, Wesnoth is best played with Friends.

Not sure if this should be in the MP forum or here but here goes.

Randomly speaking...
Been playing Wesnoth since around 0.7 (is that nearly 10 years now? Not sure, seen lots of graphics updates ), and gotta say, after introducing my other geeky friends to Wesnoth a couple of years ago, I find the game most fun around 1am, on a fri/sat night, with quite a few glasses of port in ones system, at a mates place, trash talking in a 1v1 and spring Woses out onto his Spearmen.

Then afterwards, attempting to steamroll others in 2v2 while definitely feeling the effects of said port.

That is how you play Wesnoth.

do u mean RL friend? I just found it is not too funny to play with random people for cooperative campaign as there are lots of quitters and/or new players who has little idea about the game. It's the best for me to play with some in-game friends.

Funny how it took me a while to figure it out, but there's definitely some truth to that..I think I gotta try to talk some of my friends into the game, then I could chat with them more often AND enjoy the game

It's just that games are played best with friends. Would you want to play any game with people you don't know or want to speak to or even people you hate? Lol. Maybe in competitive play, where you don't want to hurt your friend's ego or you want to crush someone you hate, but casually friends is the best way to go.

Yes, sorry, I meant RL friend. We were quite literally facing off with our monitors back to back.

I dunno. I can I don't mind either. Even if my friends aren't playing with me, I have friends on the server who are just as nice as my friends.
Either way, I'm in a win win situation.

I know what you mean... It's much more enjoyable to find a wose called "Bumbumdabum" if you have a friend to laugh with you.

Co-operative scenarios with phone contact are my favorite Wesnoth experience so far. Spending an evening talking over the phone during a game of Brotherhood of Light or Wesband is just good fun, plus it makes discussing tactics so much easier.
