Walking corpses on horseback?

Post by sacred_chao »

I've just encountered my first mounted walking corpses.

Not sure what to do about it but a walking corpse that's riding is a little... odd... :)

[EDIT] Oh and Undead merfolk - no legs to walk with. :)

[EDIT2] LoL and bats! Do ANY of them actually walk? :P

1. he had to walk to get onto the horse, right?
2. merfolk do something when they're on dry land ... I guess I'd call it walking.
3. lol, got me there. Maybe he didn't swing at a bad pitch?

0. Why is this in Experimental corner?

1. The horse walks. (well, technically it would trot or canter, but same difference)
2. That's why they're, AFAIK, called "Swimming Corpse"s.
3. Plenty of them walk, just the bats don't. Might deserve a renaming to Flying Corpse, come to think of it.

Moved to User's Forum. It makes no sense here.

They're all subtypes of the main unit "Walking Corpse".

'Walking' doesn't strictly apply to their means of locomotion, I think. In the case of the mounted zombie, walking probably implies that it's just capable of movement. In other words, I think in this particular case 'walking' can be considered synonymous with 'animated' (or 'reanimated').

At least, that's my take on the matter.

Actually, for a mounted unit, the "walking corpse" title refers to the undead horse. The rider just sits there.

"Walking corpse" is just the generic term for that type of weakly animated zombie. It has nothing to do with its actual type of locomotion any more that the name for American Football has anything to do with which extremity normally contacts the ball.

Language is funny that way; you can't always take it literally.

Not within the game, no. I was merely using the normal modern term for a corpse that moves around in order to explain what I meant. Since I was defining the term used within the game and you apparently object to my use of the modern term, what word was I supposed to use without getting into a long and awkward explanation?

Then wouldn't it be "walking carcass" or "walking carrion"? ;)

And why wouldn't we call a dead horses body a corpse?
I wonder one thing in this context - if we have variations of the same unit differing by..well almost everything - moves, defence, graphics - then maybe it is possible to stuff name variations in there as well? Then we'd get 'flying corpse' 'riding corpse' annd urgh..'swimming corpse'? maybe more likely 'floating corpse' xD

This thread is now a walking corpse. Arcane lock.

You've already had your answer. You're being pedantic. They were all corpses. Corpses aren't supposed to move, but now they do. "Moving Corpse" doesn't sound as cool.
