This is the first I've seen mention of http://freesf2.com/ - it should be listed prominently from the music creation pages on wiki.wesnoth.org!

That's interesting, seeing as how that is the very topic of this thread.

And now it is: http://wiki.wesnoth.org/Tools_for_Creating_Music#Free_2

Interestingly, someone else added it moments before I hit "save." I wonder if they're reading this topic? ;)

I only found this thread by lurking in #wesnoth-music and seeing the thread posting. My previous Google searches only turned up threads about to your SSO, not this thread.

I just added freesf2 to http://wiki.wesnoth.org/Tools_for_Creating_Music along with an updated link to G-Town (which is now hosted on legaltorrents) and removed a slew of dead links.

It should be mentioned that the original version of the G-Town samples are in gigastudio format, whereas the ones on freesf2 are in sf2 format.

Also, I can't help but wonder what that link to soundfonts.it is doing there. The only decent stuff from that site are already on freesf2.

Edit: I removed the soundfonts.it link from the wiki. The whole point of freesf2.com was to create a repository of the very best orchestral soundfonts from the classic sites. Having the soundfonts.it link there (or hammersound, or whatever) may seem like we endorse everything on those sites, when the fact of the matter is that 90% of it is junk. To anyone who's interested, a simple google search will turn up plenty of sf2 sites. Either we should list them all on the wiki, or none of them.

West wrote: marcusvinicius, I know you only mean well. But I must ask you to please stop telling people to use the SSO soundfonts. I have stated several times on this forum that I'm not working on it anymore, and it was never more than a crude beta. The soundfonts on freesf2 are fifty times better than SSO, please use them instead.
I'm sorry. Tough most of them sound better than SSO, They don't really mix well and some you have to apply EQ, compression and volume normalization in a same sample to mix well with another samples. I didn't know you stopped work on SSO, maybe I missed some posts, communication break down...
So this is the last time I mention SSO in the internet(that was :P ).

Ooooo, pretty cello - freesf2 quality?? Perhaps, though I need to mess around with it a little more, it seems to have a great mature sound. Any opinions??

Hey umm, I downloaded some of the soundfonts, but I can't play them or use them! At the site, it tells me to download sf2 and sf2+. But when I download sf2 I don't know what to do next! Please tell me how to play the soundfonts. I use LMMS for making music..

Hi, for an awesome free sound of Staccato strings, I recommend this: http://www.cinematicstrings.com/index.p ... Itemid=123
(You need Kontakt 3.5 / 4 to use this library)

P.S: I posted a demo for Wesnoth project on this forum, if you have time, come listen to it :D (Composer (contribution))

Peace

You need to download and install a torrent client program and open the .torrent file with it.
The client will start to download the torrent.

Unfortunately I don't know any torrent client for Windows or Mac,
but google will help you there.
