This looks like a rather tough one to pull off: too fast and it looks out of character for the Walking Corpse, too slow and it detracts from game play, and there is very little middle ground.

It definitely needs to climb rather than simply rise, unless we add a magic effect, but that would probably look cheesy. I'd suggest that you work on something else for a while, and we'll come back to this at another moment and see what we can hammer out.

Bump for spearman north frame. Did one with javelin-quiver, one without. The latter is easier to read, the former probably more useful for non-hammerspace javelin throwing. For the throw anims, we could probably do similar to the Hunter throw Trilby did, and have him stick the spear in the ground, throw the javelin, then pick the spear back up. Maybe.

Thanks, I'll try and get rid of the pillowshading on the feet and knock together a preliminary attack anim.

I got rid of the pillowing for you ;) COuld probably go a little more, but the above, with minor tweaks, is probably good to animate.

I'd say it looks better than yours did, but you're welcome to tweak it and come back with another version =)

I'll make the anim first, then we can see if it works, if not we can always re do it. :)

Thinking about it now, two things do stand out about the feet: firstly, the greaves are different sizes. Secondly, the left foot should probably be more shaded than the right foot. So with that in mind, feel free to make a couple of tweaks whilst you're animating.

The slide of the hand down the haft looks a little awkward, I have to say. I wonder whether a one-handed thrust might look better. Or keep the spear still in the top hand, swing it up across his body and thrust it on the opposite side with the buckler hand low down. This way is beneficial as well because it allows him to step forward with the back foot, moving him further toward the target.

Just to reiterate what TSI said: That attack is simply backwards for a right handed right footed spearman. Generally in spear fighting your dominant hand is the one closer to the head and for a basic lunge or feint you step with your dominant foot. He could try doing an overhand attack with one hand or he could bring the shaft of the spear across his body to grab with the buckler hand and then lunge.

Uhm...

I thought there already was a north attack.
Are you just editing it so it fits with the new n-facing spearman?

No, the current single-frame north and northeast attacks are being replaced with actual animations. And a northeast base frame.
