The Painted (or Warded in the USA) Man by Peter V Brett. Very, very good book so far. A fantasy setting, but extremely character-driven. The elements of swords and sorcery are there, the world is very well developed, but strong characterisation make it interesting.

your suggestions turn out to be very satisfying, you could improve the handling a lot if u provided an AMAZON LINK of your favorites im still on robinsons island...he has been flushed by a current out into the ocean and is very very happy to be alive on his lonely island again - and he has started to be religious, to my personal disappointment - i loved the scenes where he was praying and didnt know what for, also, because he was so angry about his overall situation in the first days after his landing on the island. he has simply accepted his loneliness. now i have to bear with thoughts like "i have myself to talk to, and actually im speaking with god - and, hey - this is better than speaking with other people" i hope he meets somebody else soon (10 yrs have passed).

Ok, I've temporarilly put assided the ghastly shades to read the first 20 chapters of my fiend's novel (WIP) and get back to her on it it is called LINES THAT DIVIDE. (Yes, in caps). If it weren't for the whole privacy/inelectual property issue, I'd post it four you guys too.

The little I have read of him I have found to be very boring.

How many ways can you say "you have no proof"?

and how can you use the laws of physics (as observed by us) to disprove something which by its very nature is not bound by them? If Dawkins was slightly more entertaining I'd read more of him.

Now best we change the topic before things get ugly?

I read "Four Past Midnight" and "Skeleton Crew". The second one was better! I'll search for "Needful Things" next time I'll be in bookstore .

King's short stories pwn his novels.

I wouldn't say it this drastically but the thing is, some of the books are reaaaaallyyyy long and they need half the way to get something going, whereas in the shorties you jump into the action right away. I should mention though, that some of those are really strange, others have these ideas that can ruin your sleep for a couple of days.

MC (or anyone else), any comments on "The Buick"? I read mostly negative feedback, while found it fascinating and for the most part not boring.
