Re: What is everyone's favorite movie at the moment?
Rush Hour.
...apparenly we can't go with it or something.
Re: What is everyone's favorite movie at the moment?
Inception. It's this decade's equivalent to the first Matrix. Great complicated plot, plenty of action, and cool philosophical mumbo jumbo. GO WATCH IT

Actually am going to tonight I think (well, am going to the cinema, and not a lot else is on). Will report back, but am tentatively expecting good things.
EDIT: screening was full. Bah.

So yeah, I missed out on Inception. But I was able to get hold of a bunch of DVDs I've wanted for ages, including District 9, which I've just finished, and was awesome.

I'm seeing Inception today, after I eat the world's greatest pizza. More on it when I see it.
EDIT: OKay, I'm back. And I saw it. It was awesome. I especially liked the fact that they handled the love subplot so well and the way it intertwined with the main story was well done.

That's what I keep trying to tell people about "Robocop". Sure, there's a lot of violence, but there is also a story about humanity and what it takes to be recognized as a human in there, too.Hulavuta wrote:I resaw The Matrix 1 and 2. I have to say, brilliant story. I hate it when people get turned off to movies like The Matrix, Terminator, or the game Halo, because it has a lot of killing and cursing. They say: "Oh, it's killing, it's just for people who like death." which covers up the fact that these movies actually have a good story. Death and Cursing can be used very effectively. Death and war are sad, making the movies emotional, and cursing can be used to add depth to a character. (Easily portraying his/her angry nature.)

Re: What is everyone's favorite movie at the moment?
Dunno if I can say favorite movie, since I usually only watch movies once...
But well, Omen was kinda good. (the 2006 remake). It could've been a lot better though, if it was longer and more detailed and stuff, since it ended a bit... stupidly.
Hmmm, I hope this thread is also for episodes of TV series, which are short movies...?
Because then I can say Cigarette Burns, which was an episode of Masters of Horror. It was REALLY awesome. I mean.... EVERYONE must watch it. Okay, well, maybe some 10 year olds shouldn't, but well. It could've been better too, though... It ended boringly.
...I never like endings, lol.

Yeah, I recently watched robocop 1 for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Some cheap "popcorn action flick" stuff, but also a rather cutting satire about american corporations and greed.scienceguy8 wrote:That's what I keep trying to tell people about "Robocop". Tip of the hat to the portrayals of "Clarence Boddicker" and "Dick Brown" - I love me a good movie villain.

EPIC CENSORSHIP FAIL
D i c k Brown. As in, short for Richard.
Which actually happens to be MY FIRST NAME.
Someone is getting a talking to.
Edit: Fridge logic. Censoring d i c k by replacing it with ass doesn't make a whit of sense, since they're considered equally offensive. What gives?

Clbuttic mistake
Yeah, Robocop was a good film, as well as a splattergore film. Sadly the sequels and followups tended to move away from the satire and more into the action and splattergore, which is a shame. I like my action with a modicum of intelligence...

Yeah. I went into the mod panel and changed the remaining few words that weren't explicitly [censored] to that. I hate this sort of passive-aggressive transformation to some theoretically less offensive term. Just be outright about it.thespaceinvader wrote:Clbuttic mistake
I also uncensored Dick. I won't stand for that.
Yeah, I haven't seen the other two. They could have really gone somewhere with the point they were at at the end of the first one.Yeah, Robocop was a good film, as well as a splattergore film. Anyone in favor of altering history to have William Gibson write the screenplay for Robocop 2, say aye.
