Where did you get your username from?

My avatar, on the other hand, is a glider. Every once in a while, I get someone PMing/emailing me saying "Your avatar is backwards. The Hacker Emblem faces the other way" and I reply "That's because it's not the Emblem, it's a glider." Once, someone actually said "Your avatar is backwards. Gliders face the other way." That guy clearly had no idea what a glider is.

I had wondered what it was...

I guess you can describe your avatar here, although for most, it's obvious. However, avatars change a LOT more often than usernames, so the post may look, eh, "weird."

I don't know if you want to hear from someone who only has a handful of posts but I'll chip in anyway. My username comes from an ad that used to be on tv a few years ago for "waxwood" sleeper pines, a wax coated plank of wood! Boring I know, but the guy on the ad had a very large, white beard. Coupled with my love for beards this led to a username for all things on the internet! Huzzah!
