What's your record for number of attacks without a hit?

What's your record for number of attacks without a hit?
OK, what's your record for number of consecutive attacks on a single unit without getting a hit?
I've just experienced this in the Siege of Elensefar scenario in HTTT
Orcish assassin, on 2 hit points.
Elf fighter attacks 4 times, 4 misses
Knight attacks 4 times, 4 misses
During the AI's turn, he poisons my knight,
Following turn
Elf fighter attacks 4 times, 4 misses
Knight attacks 4 times, 4 misses
Elf Shaman attacks twice, 2 misses
Red mage attacks 4 times, 3 misses and hits on the last attack, killing him. He would have levelled up if he had survived.
That's 21 consecutive misses, 16 at 40% chance to hit and 3 at 70%.
Edit: doubly annoying, as I wasted both turns of daylight trying to kill a single unit that was blocking the way into the central city.

Re: What's your record for number of attacks without a hit?
Eh, what's the point? If there is one, where's the replay?
If not, how is it surprising that a <100% chance might yield a <100% result?
So at 40% you missed 16 times and at 70% missed 3 times. That's unlikely, but not impossible. You have a 60% chance to miss in the first case and 30% chance to miss in the second. It just so happens, you got unluckly.
Oh and to answer your question, i've never had a more than a few misses in a row.

A 0.0000000000000000000001% chance to miss is still a chance to miss.
1 in a million chance is still 1, not 0.
Still, that kind of luck is unbelievable as I've never had to waste more than 3 units just to KO another with 1 hit.
Maybe you could post that replay and the RNG whiners would surely be happy about it.

He's just showing a funny outcome and he wants to know what the record was for most misses.
At least he isn't complaining that the RNG is [censored] up like a lot of other people do.

Re: What's your record for number of attacks without a hit?
Hah, this reminds me of a nice encounter during TroW.
I was in doubt about Lady Outlaw attacking an Orcish Warlord. He would have to get all hits in against 70% defense for retaliation and his attack the next turn to kill her, while avoiding getting hit to many times. I took the risk, long story short, of course she died and I had to restart.

I once missed 731 times in a row with a horde of marksman elves attacking a troll in water, meanwhile the same troll hit my elves who were in forest 419 times in a row!
Unfortunately I forgot to save the replay. But it did happen. Really!

Silly Dave, marksman wouldn't affect attacking a troll in water
(No, I'm not missing his point )

Re: What's your record for number of attacks without a hit?
Actually, marksman would. Marksman only says that it has AT LEAST a 60% chance, but a Troll in water would increase your chances to 80%. Unless you're saying that they would have 80% anyway....so nevermind.
By the way, that's a LOT of Marksmen and Markswomen.

Ha, I really enjoyed that bit of sarcastic wit. It's right on the money, too. +1 Dave.Dave wrote:I once missed 731 times in a row with a horde of marksman elves attacking a troll in water, meanwhile the same troll hit my elves who were in forest 419 times in a row!

Sounds like someone's been editing the unit cfg's.Dave wrote:I once missed 731 times in a row with a horde of marksman elves attacking a troll in water, meanwhile the same troll hit my elves who were in forest 419 times in a row!
Ok, I just edited these two elves and put them on different teams. I gave both a berserker trait. They both attacked 999 times and, each with a hit ratio of 0-0, missed every time. How's that.

Re: What's your record for number of attacks without a hit?
How else are we supposed to take it? If you ain't got no evidence, you ain't go no case. So many people come here claiming the RNG is biased/rigged/broken/nonexistant... but they never provide proof of their claims. As a rational, logical human being, I need solid proof before taking something as the truth. Currently all the proof I have is that which I have accumulated in my own playing experience, in which I have never considered the RNG broken in any way.

What does that have to do with this thread?artisticdude wrote:So many people come here claiming the RNG is biased/rigged/broken/nonexistant... but they never provide proof of their claims.
As a rational, logical human being you ought to be able to see that no one was saying that the RNG is broken in any way.artisticdude wrote:As a rational, logical human being, I need solid proof before taking something as the truth.
