Not a bad idea. Take the mainline wagon and load it with a few guys with slings and bandages and crutches... Or maybe it should just be a wagon with a red cross on it...

I think the main thing will be to work out how we will implement everything, it's no use doing things if we don't know how the will work.

Well, I'm here for 2 reasons:

I have a unit I'm trying to make, and everything's done except the sprite/animations. What would I use to make it on paper? Could you help me make it? My artistic skills are so-so, but I draw pretty good, here's my hand-drawn one, I used a pencil kit with colored pencils, this may be dark. The concept is a Saurian with a double use shield and spear. The spear can be a long slashing weapon and it can jab, too. The shield has a honed edge, imitating a blade, which will be used in defense: (will edit this post so picture is actually here, but anyone know how to scan something? I've looked for hours, couldn't find anything useful)

Yeah, sure, I'll take a crack at it, though I can't promise much.

About the scanning; well, about the only thing I know of is a printer/ scanner. ( A printer with a scanner.)

Umm... a scanner?

What do you mean? The answer depends on the kind of hardware you're using.

I mean the thing on top of some printers, it copies the image it gets into your computer :D
If you guys don't use it, then what do you use?

I think they scan in pencil drawings sometimes to convert them to lines; but mostly I think the artists draw on the computer.

I know some people who draw their units on paper, then take a picture of the drawing, and use that as reference on their computer. Though it is best if you draw using the computer. :D

BTW, Wacom tablets are very useful for this.

Yup.

Even if you're more comfortable using traditional methods over digital ones, I'd still recommend getting a digital drawing tablet for touchups, tracing, shading, etc. With practice, you can eventually even learn to draw only using the tablet (I have a hard time drawing anything realistic using traditional media myself, let alone digital stuff :P ).

But if you have a scanner on your printer, or even a separate one, the user's manual usually has lots of helpful information about how things work.

I've been doing that recently, as Gambit will attest. I'm sure you saw the little pencil drawing next to a pixel drawing in my thread a while back, one of the unfinished tanks, I think.

This may sound kinda insane to you guys, but ever heard of Paint.net? Well, I decided to try it out, and this is what I came up with for the spearmaster:

I want the shield to have a blade edge on part of it, but it would take hours on Paint.net, can you do it? Plus, the crown taken off, and the chainmail around the chest. The only stuff after that is, to add the shield attack (2 or 3 frames?), and I need help with the spear slash.

(NOTE, these will be edited to match the chainmail, shield, and other coloring, please critique when I finish it.(about 2 weeks without help, 1 with help))

Looks really good to me. But perhaps the left (his left) foot should step down in attack-jab-2 so that he's taking a step forward. Remember: animations slide.
